Johnny Depp is paying tribute to one of his rock icons.
The actor caught fans off guard by unexpectedly appearing on stage with Alice Cooper during his July 25 performance at London’s O2 Arena, paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne just three days after the Black Sabbath frontman’s family confirmed his death at the age of 76.
In a YouTube video, the actor from Pirates of the Caribbean unexpectedly jumped in with Cooper and his band during their performance of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.” Depp skillfully strummed the bass guitar while the crowd erupted in delight.
Cooper shouted to the crowd, ‘This one’s for Ozzy,’ donning an Osbourne supporter t-shirt during his act.
Previously in the same day, Cooper reminisced about his closest memories associated with a former star of The Osbournes sitcom who dealt with Parkinson’s disease before his demise. This was done while he looked back on several decades spent as companions in the world of heavy metal music.
In an interview with Planet Rock on July 25th, Cooper stated, “I had already started towards the stage when I learned about his passing. My initial reaction was, ‘That can’t be true.’ He had just performed so well. However, as the reality sank in, it felt like a powerful punch to the gut. Even though it was expected, it still came as a massive shock.
At the close of the performance, he simply remarked, “‘All right everyone, it’s time to bid farewell to Ozzy,'” he said, adding that the audience responded with a hearty “Ozzy, Ozzy” chant. Ozzy was a highly cherished figure in the rock world.
Depp and Cooper aren’t the only musicians who were deeply affected by the rock icon’s death.

Originally named John Michael Osbourne, born in Birmingham, England during 1948, Ozzy faced challenges with education at the start. However, it was his deep-rooted love for music that served as a driving force, propelling him towards a more promising future.
In 2010, he shared with The Associated Press that his education level had grown slightly since starting school, despite the challenges posed by dyslexia. Growing up, he was often teased by one of his sisters about his struggles with reading, which brought a great deal of shame.
Without The Beatles sparking my love for music, I’m not sure how I would have found my path,” he explained. “Music, in fact, was the primary force that helped me escape from the neighborhood where I grew up.
In 1968, he along with his peers established the band Black Sabbath, taking inspiration from a film of the same name. As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an intriguing tale. I’m referring to the unforgettable moment when Ozzy, the legendary solo artist, boldly took the stage at the iconic Madison Square Garden during his Diary of a Madman tour. Here’s the twist: this performance occurred a mere two days after the infamous incident where a bat—which he assumed was a prop—was tossed onto the stage. In an unexpected turn of events, Ozzy gave it a bite, thinking it was safe.
In the documentary, Ozzy remarked, “I assumed it was a rubber bat, so I popped it in my mouth and chomped. To my dismay, I had actually bitten into something real. Being the jester that I am, I exclaimed, ‘Oh dear! It’s genuine!’
Later that year, he married his manager, Sharon Arden.
In the small town of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the singer known for his “Iron Man” hit song, sporting his famous dark eyeliner, struck a pose with a cigarette prior to a show. Ozzy and Sharon welcomed their first child together, named Aimee Osbourne.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but share my excitement as I rephrase a snippet of history: Following their electrifying performance on the Bark at the Moon tour, none other than the legendary Ozzy and the iconic Motlëy Crüe’s Vince Neil struck a pose. In an even more momentous occasion, my idol, Ozzy, and his beloved partner Sharon, welcomed their cherished daughter, Kelly Osbourne, into the world.

Reflecting on his illustrious career spanning five decades, Ozzy took a moment to appreciate the multitude of accomplishments he’d made in his life filled with stardom.
In 2018, he shared with Rolling Stone that he never expected to reach this point in his career, expressing bewilderment about why he’s still alive after his wild days. It seems as though the person up above, if there is one, has a plan for him to keep going.
