JoJo Siwa Shares She’s “Not in the Clear” After Ovarian Cyst Emergency

JoJo Siwa is on the mend.

Four days after being hospitalized for an ovarian cyst, the singer of “Karma” shared an update on her recovery. She said that although she had a busy weekend, she’s still not feeling completely better.

Okay, so JoJo finally posted an update, and I nearly cried with relief! She said she’s doing a little better, which is HUGE because, honestly, seeing those pictures of her being carried into an ambulance on a stretcher was terrifying. She’s not completely out of the woods yet, but she says she’s feeling good and doing well, and that’s all I needed to hear! I’m still sending her all my love and hoping for a full recovery, but this update definitely lifted my spirits. I’m just so glad she’s fighting and feeling a bit better!

Despite receiving medical clearance to perform at the Mall of America on Black Friday, the former Dance Moms star continued to experience issues from her burst cyst well into the night.

I ran a fever the night after my hospital visit, which was a little scary, but it went away after a good night’s sleep. I’ve been feeling fine ever since! I’m taking it easy and drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and keep things moving forward.

“I really appreciate you reaching out and sending messages,” she said. “All the love and support has been amazing and has truly helped me get better!”

Despite the discomfort, JoJo explained how she has been powering through.

She recently traveled to dance studios across the US to teach the choreography for her new Christmas song, ‘Message To The World (Little Drummer Girl).’ Although it was physically challenging, she said seeing the joy on the children’s faces while they danced and spent time with her made the effort completely worthwhile!

JoJo has expressed her gratitude for all the love and support she’s received while dealing with a health issue. She previously shared that doctors found an ovarian cyst was causing her severe pain, and they believe it will resolve on its own, which brought her a lot of relief.

She shared in a TikTok on November 29th that finding out the cause of her pain was a relief. Knowing what was happening helped her to pause, breathe, and allow the discomfort to subside.

While JoJo continues to get better, here are some other celebrities who have bravely shared their difficult health experiences.

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest during a wrestling match with Piper Niven in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finalized her divorce and retired from her current job, she would return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, because she planned to use it again and it couldn’t appear in its current condition.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many of us are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being female. This often leaves people feeling like they’re dealing with a difficult experience on their own, when it actually affects a lot of us.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she had been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter), asking why she hadn’t tweeted recently. Suki replied, jokingly suggesting the reason was a hernia she got six months ago from wearing very tight pants, and that she’d been afraid to mention it.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He discovered he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t quite burst, but was very close to doing so.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder from Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate, before suddenly collapsing as trainers were called to assess her condition.

Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a childhood accident – he was hit by a cement truck when he was 11 – continue to bother him now.

“It’s been a really difficult time,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was in a life-threatening situation—just within the last year.”

He acknowledged that pain is temporary, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite functioning as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.

It’s still so strange – even now, my knees-to-toes feel tingly! I was talking about it on my podcast recently, and it’s honestly pretty scary. Just a few weeks ago, I was comfortably squatting 295 pounds. Now? I can’t even do a squat properly, let alone a single-leg one – I just fall over. It feels like I’ve had a stroke, it’s that disorienting.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually been suffering from food poisoning, but was starting to feel better.

I was so shocked to hear that Shiri Appleby, who I loved on Even Stevens, was shot in the face! It happened while she was on a birthday trip with her husband, Brendan Rooney – they were out shooting clay pigeons when it happened. She shared the news back in February 2025, and I’ve been sending her all my best wishes ever since.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and drove her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye by less than an inch.

The Kim Possible actress explained that a small piece of something is stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they will keep monitoring her vision, which is currently normal.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving. She shared how much she loves her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that experiencing a near-death moment made her realize how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised when doctors began commenting on her appearance after press interviews. They suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly due to steroid injections she’d received after a breast reduction and C-section. She realized they were right, and she wouldn’t have known about the condition without the online comments. In a recent newsletter, Schumer shared her relief that her type of Cushing syndrome is temporary and she is healthy, calling it the “greatest news imaginable.”

During a December 2024 game, an AHL player was accidentally cut in the face by another player’s skate, requiring 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly began having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she had suffered a small blood clot to the brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, and while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be okay and was thankfully doing much better.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin, but then lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next twenty days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy to regain his mobility.

He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! She actually said she died while running the first mile of the competition! Like, completely stopped breathing! I was watching and nearly had a heart attack myself! It was on NBC, and she just casually dropped that she, you know, died during the challenge. I’m still reeling! It’s insane!

You know, I’ve spoken to a lot of people about near-death experiences, and this one really stuck with me. She shared with me on the show Fit for TV that her memory of that day is fragmented. She recalls the sound of a helicopter, a strange floating sensation, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, it was just darkness, followed by light. And in that moment, she knew she had died. It’s a powerful story, and she felt incredibly certain about what she experienced.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

As someone who’s always focused on well-being, I’ve always admired Emilia Clarke, but her story is truly inspiring. Many of you probably remember her incredible work on Game of Thrones, but what most people didn’t know is she was battling for her life even while filming those intense battle scenes. In 2019, she bravely shared her experience with a ruptured aneurysm and the two subsequent brain surgeries she underwent. It all started with a terrible headache at the gym, which quickly escalated into something terrifying. She described collapsing and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain. The diagnosis was a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had immediate surgery, but unfortunately, a second scan revealed the problem had grown and required another, even more invasive procedure. She described the pain as unbearable, and for a while, she even struggled with aphasia, making it difficult to speak. Thankfully, after a month in the hospital, she recovered. But it wasn’t over – she needed a second surgery, this time requiring them to access her brain directly through her skull. It’s incredible to me, and so heartening, that she’s now completely recovered and at 100%. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing your health and seeking help when something doesn’t feel right.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is thankful for the support of her family. In January 2024, she suffered a stroke and her loved ones immediately came to her side. She told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi that she simply texted her family about the stroke with a picture, and they all rushed to help.

Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues. While she could have gone home after the stroke, she was also dealing with lupus and kidney problems.

Today, Cori is recovering well. She says she’s doing great and is regaining her motor skills, and otherwise feels fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with her health throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she revealed she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and digestive issues. Doctors offered various diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused and frustrated.

Drawing on her background in herbalism and holistic medicine, Shailene sought answers from both traditional doctors and alternative healers, hoping to find relief and understand her condition. This search for wellness lasted for ten years.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.

Fortunately, after years of addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She’s grateful to be in a good place.
