Among all the Joestar characters created by Hirohiko Araki, the one who stands out most is Jotaro Kujo. He first appeared in ‘Stardust Crusaders’, and later became a supporting character in both ‘Diamond Is Unbreakable’ and ‘Stone Ocean’. Even making a brief appearance in ‘Golden Wind’, Jotaro has been a recurring figure throughout the series. With the manga having started in the 1980s, Araki’s art has significantly evolved when it comes to the Stand-focused series. As Hirohiko is currently working on the next installment of the franchise, The JOJOLands, he has once again featured Jotaro, using his latest artistic style to depict the Stardust Crusader.
Among the notable transformations in the Joestar series since the Stardust Crusaders era is a shift in the character’s physical appearances. In the third installment of the anime franchise, it was hard to imagine Jotaro as a high school student due to his muscular build that resembled a professional bodybuilder. Over time, Araki has adopted a new style when designing characters, making them leaner and more fashionable. The ongoing JOJOLands series portrays its leads, Jodio and Dragona, as significantly slimmer than their predecessors. A comparison between the current depiction of Jotaro and his Stand Star Platinum, and how they would appear if they debuted today, highlights this change in style.
The JOJOLands Hit The Classics
In the universe of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, it may seem surprising to see our familiar character Jotaro, but the recent storyline has revived a significant figure from the past. Earlier instalments of Jodio and Dragona’s escapades involved retrieving a valuable diamond from an unconventional source. Remarkably, Kishibe Rohan, one of Hirohiko Araki’s beloved fictional manga creators, made an appearance in the narrative, closely resembling his past depictions. Although this doesn’t guarantee Jotaro’s return, it demonstrates that anything can happen within Araki’s extraordinary world.
Fortunately, the JOJOLands aren’t the sole locations where fans can immerse themselves in the realm of Stands. Earlier this year, at Anime Expo, David Production hosted a significant event to spotlight the franchise’s future, unveiling the upcoming anime adaptation of Steel Ball Run – one of Araki’s most intriguing storylines. Given that Jotaro won’t be making a comeback in this series, fans can anticipate an extraordinary horse race instead. Although no release date has been announced for Johnny Joestar’s thrilling adventure, another event is planned for September, which may provide more insights into what lies ahead.
