Okay, so I’ve been following the DC K.O. event, and honestly, it’s been wild. I wasn’t shocked to see The Joker doing well – it is a battle royale centered around eliminating opponents, after all. But the latest round? Totally unexpected! He managed to take out two Justice League members in a really clever way, teaming up with someone you’d never guess. It brought out a seriously dangerous side of the Joker we haven’t seen in a while, and it was a real game changer.
DC K.O. #3, written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Javier Fernández, focused on the third round of the competition to determine who would inherit Darkseid’s power. In this round, the eight remaining contestants had to team up for a two-on-two fight, and Zatanna, anticipating a battle with the Joker, chose her former partner, John Constantine, as her ally.
Zatanna chose the Laughing Magician, John, not just as someone to have her back, but because his skills as a trickster and con artist meant he’d likely be able to anticipate any underhanded moves by the Joker. Together, they seemed well-equipped to handle the Joker and his dangerous ally, a twisted version of Batman known as The Batman Who Laughs. Unfortunately, even these two powerful Justice League mages didn’t realize the danger until it was too late.
What is Joker’s Ultimate Form?
The Joker’s supposed ally, who appeared to be The Batman Who Laughs, was actually a distraction. The Joker had secretly teamed up with Mister Mxyzptlk, a mischievous imp from another dimension known for playing pranks on Superman. This allowed the Joker to regain control, become Emperor Joker, and quickly change the course of the fight.
In 2000, a nine-part story arc called ‘Emperor Joker’ ran through the Superman comics. The story featured the Joker gaining almost all of the reality-bending powers of the mischievous imp, Mister Mxyzptlk. With this immense power, the Joker’s insanity threatened to unravel and destroy everything that existed.
Fortunately, Emperor Joker’s reign didn’t last long in the DC Universe. Mxyzptlk only gave the Joker enough power to win his current match. To everyone’s surprise, the Joker actually kept his promise and released the imp. Sadly, this didn’t help Zatanna and Constantine, as the Joker killed them both, guaranteeing his advancement to Round 4 of the tournament.
