Recent events on the set of a new Daily Wire film, featuring Jonathan Majors, have sparked worries about safety. The union for stage and film workers, IATSE, had already planned a strike due to disagreements over funding for its members’ health and retirement benefits.
After a recent on-set accident where actor Jonathan Majors and his co-star, JC Kilcoyne, fell through a window, union members working on the production are demanding a faster and more serious reaction to improve safety.

Film producer Dallas Sonnier told Deadline that the strikes are causing major problems for the industry, and some striking members are now trying to disrupt those who are still working on projects. He stated firmly, “We will not negotiate with communists.”
What Happened
A video acquired by Deadline captures the actors right before and during the incident.

Majors and Kilcoyne were filming a scene where their characters stepped back towards a window with their hands up. According to reports from Deadline, the window had been temporarily replaced with a sheet of tempered glass for a stunt that wasn’t meant to include the actors themselves. Video from the set shows them falling through the opening as crew members immediately ran to help.
The actors apparently fell about six feet. John Kilcoyne needed stitches on his hands as a result. A spokesperson for Kilcoyne said he’s recovering well and received immediate medical attention from the production team. The spokesperson also stated that Kilcoyne felt safe on set and is enjoying working on the project.
But sources at Deadline report that Jonathan Majors’ recent troubles are just the most public part of a larger issue with the Daily Wire’s production.
Additional Safety Concerns
According to a veteran crew member, filming wasn’t proceeding as usual, with no typical work happening on set. Concerns are also being raised about health issues at different filming locations and the safety procedures for using prop guns. Reports indicate that special effects supervisor Chris Bailey is currently prohibited from working with explosives on any production.

A crew member who previously worked on the Jonathan Majors film project stated that The Daily Wire and its production team don’t seem concerned about the lasting impact on the people working on set.
Union Pressure and Production Tensions
These events are happening while IATSE, the union for entertainment crew members, is already dealing with tensions with independent filmmakers who don’t work with major studios. Before the recent issues with Jeremy Majors, over 60% of the production crew had already expressed interest in joining the union. Even though the production isn’t currently unionized, IATSE can still offer assistance if crew members specifically ask for their help.

Sonnier initially seemed unconcerned about potential unionization efforts on set. He stated that the producers were too focused on the action-packed aspects of filming – like explosions, helicopters, and simulated combat – to pay attention to protesters he dismissed as insignificant and their efforts as invalid.
Even if reports about difficult working conditions are overstated, the video of Jonathan Majors falling through a window shows that real dangers exist on set. As the Daily Wire expands its presence in entertainment, events like this could influence how viewers and those working on their projects perceive the company’s productions.
