There’s growing buzz that Jordan Peele, known for his hit films like Get Out, Us, and Nope, might be directing a movie for Marvel. Recent activity on social media has fueled these rumors. Peele hasn’t directed a film since Nope in 2022, and while he produced a movie released in 2025, fans are eager to find out what directing project he’ll tackle next, as he’s only directed three films in the past eight years.
It’s surprising, but Jordan Peele might direct a Marvel movie – his first film not based on his own original idea. Rumors started circulating after Cosmic Marvel shared information from DanielRPK stating that Marvel Studios wants Peele to direct a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Interestingly, Peele’s production company, Monkeypaw Productions, then shared the rumor on social media, simply adding an emoji of curious eyes.

Jordan Peele has been considered for a Marvel project before. Back in 2019, rumors linked him to the film Blade, but he stated he wasn’t interested in directing a comic book movie at that time. He explained it had always been a childhood dream to bring his imagination to life on screen, but he felt he had limited time and many of his own stories he wanted to tell, so it didn’t seem like the right fit.
What Could Jordan Peele Direct for Marvel?
Jordan Peele mentioned in 2019 that he had many stories to tell but limited time, and he’s only directed one film since then. Taking on a comic book movie can be beneficial for a director, potentially leading to more opportunities. The idea is to complete a large-scale project for a studio, and then leverage that success to create a more personal film. If Jordan Peele were to direct a successful Marvel movie, it could help him get funding and support for his next original project.
It’s becoming common to see filmmakers like Jordan Peele bring their unique style to Marvel movies. Ryan Coogler successfully expanded the Black Panther universe and was then given the opportunity to direct his own film, Sinners, which is expected to be a strong contender at the Oscars in 2025.
Back in 2019, Jordan Peele was reportedly considered to direct a Blade movie, but that project hasn’t moved forward. Now, if Marvel wants to make a strong impact with its films after Secret Wars, they should seriously consider Peele to direct the next X-Men movies. If they aim to recapture the original spirit of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s X-Men – using the stories to explore themes of prejudice and discrimination – Peele is uniquely qualified to tell those stories, and likely with a compellingly darker edge.
Currently, it’s unclear what Jordan Peele is thinking or what Marvel might offer him. However, he could add significant artistic credibility to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will be crucial for a strong start after Avengers: Secret Wars.
