Recently, there’s been talk about Jordan Peele potentially working with Marvel Studios on a future project. Though it’s just a rumor at this point, fans are excited about the possibility of the director behind films like Get Out, Us, and Nope bringing his unique style to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps even with a character like Blade, played by Mahershala Ali.
Jordan Peele’s company playfully responded to rumors of him directing a ‘Blade’ reboot with an eye emoji on social media. They’ve since jokingly dismissed the theories, saying people jumped to conclusions, but the idea of Peele taking on a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie still excites many. Personally, though, I’m hoping he doesn’t.
Jordan Peele Is Better Off Without The MCU

Jordan Peele first became known as a comedian, so his shift to directing horror films was unexpected. His early movies, Get Out and Us, were gripping thrillers that became part of a newer, more sophisticated style of horror. With Nope, he experimented with science fiction, though still keeping elements of horror in the story.
Jordan Peele is a remarkably talented filmmaker. He excels at creating exciting, mainstream movies that also offer insightful commentary on important issues like society and race. This is a major reason why many fans thought he’d be perfect to direct the X-Men within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role now filled by Jake Schreier, the director of Thunderbolts.
Jordan Peele would be a great fit for many other Marvel characters and storylines. It would be fantastic to see him revitalize the Blade character, which has been stuck in development for a while. He could also bring a unique horror element to properties like Ghost Rider or Midnight Sons. Beyond that, imagining Peele bringing Luke Cage back into the MCU, introducing Blue Marvel, or making Bishop a key player in the X-Men world is really exciting.
Working with Marvel on any film, while appealing, would be a significant commitment. He’d likely be dedicated to that project for years, and the complex Marvel production process could limit his freedom to work on other films he might want to direct or produce. If the film was successful, the potential for sequels would further extend that time commitment.
Jordan Peele is a truly original filmmaker – a major talent who can draw audiences to a movie on his own. Hollywood would benefit from more of his unique, large-scale films, and he’s capable of creating something great even without relying on established franchises. Instead of taking on a project like Blade, he’d be better served creating an original story, similar to what Ryan Coogler recently did with Sinners.
As a huge movie fan, I think Jordan Peele is truly in a league of his own – one of those directors, like Christopher Nolan, Ryan Coogler, Robert Eggers, Denis Villeneuve, or Greta Gerwig, who can make any film feel like a major event. Everything they touch feels important. Honestly, I’d love to see him focus on his own incredibly original visions, and let someone else handle the Marvel stuff. His unique voice deserves to be on projects that really let it shine.
I’ve been so excited to hear about Jordan Peele’s next movie – he’s been quietly working on it with Universal for a while now. It’s a little disappointing to learn they’ve taken it off their release schedule, though. It sounds like he might be facing some creative challenges with the story, and honestly, I can’t blame him for considering the Marvel offer – a big project like that could give him some breathing room and a guaranteed paycheck while he sorts things out. I’m still really eager to see what he comes up with, whenever it’s ready!
If the rumors are true and Jordan Peele directs a Marvel movie, it would be a huge and exciting move for Marvel Studios. However, some fans hoping for his next independent film might be a little disappointed.
