Josh Duhamel Shares He Underwent Cataract Surgery

Josh Duhamel doesn’t subscribe to method acting.

It’s so interesting to learn more about Josh and his role! Apparently, his character in the new film, *London Calling*, spends a lot of time pretending his eyesight is fine and refusing to wear glasses. But Josh himself actually had a procedure done to *improve* his vision, which is a funny parallel to the story!

Josh revealed to TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi at the London Calling premiere on September 15th that he’d previously undergone cataract surgery. He admitted it was unusual for someone his age, but shared that his vision is now perfect – 20/20.

The new film, releasing in theaters on September 19th, features *Ransom Canyon* star John Paul Pitococo as Tommy Ward, a hitman. He’s hired to toughen up his boss’s son, Julian (played by Jeremy Ray Taylor), in return for a chance to reunite with his own child.

He described the film, directed by Allan Ungar, as a typical action movie about an aging hitman. The hitman is losing his edge – his aim isn’t what it used to be, and he accidentally kills the wrong target. This forces him to flee London for Los Angeles. To ensure safe passage back to London, his employer tasks him with taking the man’s son on a hit, which quickly goes wrong.

During the interview, set to air on September 16th at 11 p.m., Josh shared that he greatly admired his colleague, Jeremy.

He’s incredibly talented,” he said about the 22-year-old. “He’s a strong powerlifter who’s very dedicated to his health. We told him he needed to be gentle and approachable for this role, and he fully embraced that idea.”

After all, being young on set had its advantages.

Josh, 52, went on to say, “He’s a fantastic athlete. He’s much better at physical activity than I ever was-I actually pulled a groin muscle just trying to run fast!”

Maybe that explains why the actor from *Safe Haven*-who has a 12-year-old son named Axl with his ex-wife, Fergie, and a 20-month-old son named Shepherd with his wife, Audra Mari-chose a more peaceful lifestyle almost twenty years ago by building a home in Minnesota.

Josh described building his cabin as a way to reconnect with his childhood. He grew up in the North Dakota woods and wanted to give his own kids a similar experience.

While he still loves Los Angeles, he also believes it’s important for kids to experience the outdoors, get a little messy, and learn life lessons like he did when he was growing up.

It’s just… incredible to me that she was battling that *while* she was winning her Oscar for *12 Years a Slave*! She’s so strong, and it makes her achievement even more amazing if you ask me.

Looking back, it wasn’t until 2025 that I finally felt comfortable sharing what I’d been going through. I wrote on Instagram about how I’d been privately struggling with this for over ten years – it was a huge weight off my shoulders to finally talk about it.

She explained that growing up, many girls are told to expect period pain and to accept it as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves people feeling like they have to deal with a very common experience on their own.

He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one foot without falling. I was terrified, but then Brendan Rooney – seriously, he’s an angel – instantly jumped in, checked me over, and raced me to the hospital. Apparently, I was hit five times! FIVE TIMES! One of the bullets was, like, less than an inch from my eye! Can you even imagine?! Brendan is my hero, honestly. I owe him everything.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often harsh nature, because it ultimately helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and facing criticism online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d received steroid injections following a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” Schumer shared this relief in a February 2024 newsletter, thankful to be healthy.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Although the symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side, leading to complete paralysis. He also shared that it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, adding that while the situation was frightening and unexpected, he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.

In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could take aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show *Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser* that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. After that, she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the show, she experienced a severe headache at the gym, followed by intense pain and vomiting. She quickly realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – resulting from a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.

After a week, her speech returned, and she was discharged from the hospital a month later. However, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, causing a major bleed, and doctors warned her chances of survival were low without further intervention. This time, the surgery required accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Cori is now recovering well, stating she’s doing great and has been working to regain some motor skills. Overall, she feels much better and is on the mend.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described a period where she was losing her hearing, unable to walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experiencing constant stomach pain. She faced confusion due to conflicting diagnoses from different doctors.

Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has kept her specific condition private, combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being spanned a decade.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.

Ultimately, Woodley’s health improved, and she is now very healthy and happy to share that she has resolved the issues she faced.
