Daisy Ridley, known for her roles in action films, is poised to solidify her status as an action star in “The Good Samaritan,” a new thriller directed by Pierre Morel, who also directed the film “Taken.” The movie is adding some major talent to its cast with the addition of Josh Duhamel (from the “Transformers” series) and Sharlto Copley (star of “District 9”), providing a strong villainous and anti-hero presence. This casting news comes as Highland Film Group begins showcasing the film to potential buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Josh Duhamel will play Sean, a former mercenary, in the upcoming film The Good Samaritan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sean may be the titular ‘good Samaritan’ of the story. He teams up with Dr. Rosalind Carver, played by Ridley, to track down a dangerous group of pirates led by Langbore (Copley). The official story summary reveals Carver is trying to rescue her husband, who was kidnapped by a human trafficking organization while she was helping a wounded man off the Indonesian coast. The film is described as a fast-paced, thrilling action adventure.
Dr. Rosalind Carver, a successful businesswoman, and her husband Matt thought they were simply saving a life when they found an injured man at sea near Indonesia. But their rescue quickly pulls them into a dangerous plot. Soon, their yacht is gone, Matt is kidnapped, and their dream vacation becomes a nightmare. Pursued by pirates and held captive by dishonest authorities, Rosalind turns to Sean Fuller, a private security expert with a hidden past, for help. Together, they must unravel a web of lies and fight for survival in a place where trust is impossible to find.
