It’s a tough watch, seeing him cross so many lines, but Sisto portrays the internal conflict brilliantly. It really sets the stage for some intense drama to come.

He explained that if Maggie and OA hadn’t intervened, things could have gotten much darker. While he wasn’t certain his character would have actually crossed the line, he also didn’t know help was on the way.

In a particularly intense scene, a terrorist from the Third Testament argues with Jubal that the justice system is ineffective. Before Jubal can fully respond, Maggie and OA arrive. It makes you wonder, what would have happened if they hadn’t interrupted the conversation?

Jeremy Sisto believes the character likely reached his limit, but isn’t certain. The intention was to create a sense of uncertainty about what would happen next. Both characters were incredibly determined and refusing to yield, putting them in a dangerous and unpredictable standoff.

Jubal had already overstepped the line for an agent, pushing further than he ever had before. I’d hoped that would be the end of it, but we’ll never know for sure. He didn’t expect anyone to intervene, and once you take a step like that, it’s difficult to back down, especially when someone essentially gives you permission to continue. He might have gone even further, so I’m just relieved they stopped him when they did.

After what he’s done, Isobel tells Jubal they need to talk. According to Sisto, this conversation probably won’t result in immediate punishment, given the serious danger the FBI team was in. However, Jubal will have to deal with the consequences of his choices and examine his own standards, a process he must go through himself – something no one else can make him do.

As a big fan, I was really gripped by Jubal’s story in these two episodes. It really tested him, pushing him to a point where he almost became unrecognizable. He definitely went too far in how he hunted for information, but you could understand why – he was driven by what happened to Tyler, and he honestly didn’t know if his son would make it. Thankfully, things did turn out okay in the end, and it was so relieving to see him pull through.

Jubal’s choice to save McCaffery reveals a lot about who he is. Even though he wants McCaffery to pay for his actions, he can’t bring himself to let him die. Jubal believes in upholding the law and letting justice be served through the proper channels, rather than taking matters into his own hands.

By the end of the season finale, FBI establishes that Jubal remains fundamentally unchanged, despite showing how vulnerable he becomes when his family is threatened. Tyler’s ongoing recovery will prevent him from spiraling, and the possibility of reconnecting with Sam will play a role in his future storyline.
