Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Offers First Look At Yuji in Timeskip Sequel

Jump Festa is here, and it’s packed with great news for fans of Shonen manga! The two-day event showcases series from Shueisha’s magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Square, V Jump, Saikyo Jump, and the Shonen Jump+ online platform. One of Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest hits, Jujutsu Kaisen, was featured on December 20th, 2025, the first day of the event. Creator Gege Akutami shared a special illustration of Yuji Itadori showing what he looks like after the 68-year time skip in the new sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. The sequel started in September, with Akutami writing the story and Yuji Iwasaki providing the artwork.

Recent spoilers from the Modulo manga revealed what happens to Yuji after his battle with Ryomen Sukuna. While Modulo only offered a quick look, it didn’t fully show his face. Akutami’s illustration of Yuji depicts him looking remarkably unchanged by time, but with a deeply sorrowful expression, hinting at decades of suffering. The creator also expressed gratitude to those who attended the Jujutsu Kaisen stage event. The image quickly spread online after being shared by popular accounts like @Go_Jover and @soukatsu_, who are covering news from Jump Festa.

What Happened to Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?

Ever since gaining his powers, Yuji hasn’t aged at all, and the reason why remains a mystery. Many think it’s connected to the cursed objects and Death Paintings he absorbed earlier in the story. Although he became incredibly powerful, there was a significant cost: time stopped for him. He’s been forced to live for decades, watching his friends age and pass away.

Before Yuka Okkotsu and Dabura fought, the Jujutsu world was searching for Yuka, hoping he could help them. They questioned Nobara Kugisaki, who is currently safe in Modulo, about where he might be. Nobara said she hadn’t seen him since the funeral of Hana Kurusu, but she wasn’t sure how long ago that was. Seeing Nobara again was very upsetting for Yuji, and he decided to avoid other people he knew.

He’s also deeply saddened that he wasn’t able to grant his grandfather’s last wish – to die peacefully with loved ones nearby. Years have gone by, and most of the people he knew are now gone, leaving him alone to cope with the curse. While Modulo has only offered quick looks at Yuji so far, fans anticipate he’ll play a bigger role as the manga nears its conclusion.
