The long-awaited Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen is coming soon, and it will significantly change the direction of the story. Although the manga finished in 2024, the anime still needs to cover a large portion of it. The upcoming season will focus on the Culling Game, the longest story arc, which builds up to the series’ finale and reveals Kenjaku’s ultimate plan. The first two episodes will premiere on January 8th, 2026, in a special one-hour debut. You’ll be able to stream the anime on Crunchyroll, but it may take some time before the new season becomes available on Netflix in the USA.
To celebrate the release of the limited-edition CD for King Gnu’s opening theme, AIZO, the anime’s website shared a special illustration by creator Gege Akutami. The artwork shows a troubled Yuji Itadori and Kenjaku seemingly manipulating the characters like puppets. Although created for the anime, the illustration subtly hints at Yuji’s abilities – a detail that manga readers will likely recognize.
Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Teases Yuji’s Cursed Technique in Latest Anime Visual

As a huge fan, I’ve noticed something really cool in the latest anime visuals! Right behind Yuji, there’s this pattern of dashed lines with scissors – it’s a direct nod to his Cursed Technique, Shrine! It’s amazing because that technique wasn’t revealed until pretty late in the manga, around chapter 272, when we were already nearing the end! Right now in the anime, Yuji is incredibly powerful and has tons of cursed energy, but he hasn’t developed a technique that’s uniquely his own yet. But remember, Gojo predicted ages ago that because Yuji is Sukuna’s vessel, he’d eventually unlock and use the legendary King of Curses’ techniques. It’s all coming together, and I can’t wait to see it play out!
Sukuna’s natural ability, called Shrine, was transferred to Yuji after Sukuna possessed him for months. Even after Sukuna left Yuji’s body by using Megumi as a vessel, Yuji retained knowledge of how the technique works. While Sukuna can unleash powerful attacks like Cleave and Dismantle with Shrine, Yuji’s version is still developing. A unique sign of Yuji’s Shrine is that cuts appear with dashed lines resembling scissors, which doesn’t happen when Sukuna uses it. Although Yuji hasn’t mastered Shrine to the same degree as Sukuna, it proved crucial in giving him an advantage during the final battle.
