The third season of the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen is now available, and it’s exceeding expectations. The first few episodes were previously released as the movie Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, but are now streaming worldwide. The story has become significantly more intense and tragic following the events of the Shibuya Incident, which has plunged the world of jujutsu into further turmoil. The Shibuya Incident was the most devastating and heartbreaking attack on sorcerers in generations, and it was orchestrated by Ryomen Sukuna, who temporarily possessed Yuji Itadori and caused widespread death.
Honestly, it’s been heartbreaking watching Yuji struggle with so much guilt! What’s even worse is finding out the higher-ups in the jujutsu world actually used Gojo’s disappearance to try and get rid of him. They’ve always been scared of Yuji’s potential as Sukuna’s vessel, and with Gojo gone, they saw their chance. It’s terrifying to think they want him eliminated completely! They’ve tasked Yuta Okkotsu, a fellow student at Jujutsu High, with the impossible job of killing Sukuna’s vessel. But Yuta’s always had his own agenda, and I’m really curious to see what that is!
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Reveals Why Yuta Had to “Kill” Yuji

Yuta didn’t just tell the Elders he’d kill Yuji; he made a magical vow – a Binding Vow – to prove he was serious. This vow meant certain death if broken, so the Elders fully believed him and thought he would finally eliminate Yuji, who had long been a problem for them. But fans familiar with Yuta from the prequel movie might find this surprising, as he’s never seemed like someone who would want to harm a younger student.
The youngest special grade sorcerer had been planning this all along. By faking a fight with Yuji, he made sure the Elders wouldn’t come after him. The whole battle was a sham – he briefly killed Yuji, then immediately revived him using Reverse Cursed Technique. It was a dangerous move, even for someone as skilled as Yuta, but he needed to convince the jujutsu world that Yuji was truly gone.
Yuta also felt a strong obligation to honor his promise to his teacher, Satoru Gojo, who had asked him to protect Yuji in case anything happened to him, especially after Gojo’s trip to Africa. With the jujutsu world in chaos following the Shibuya Incident and Kenjaku continuing his destructive actions, Yuta’s incredible power offers a crucial advantage. Sorcerers are hoping he can both defeat the villain and rescue Gojo from the Prison Realm.
