The newest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo threw fans for a loop – even after seventy years, Yuji hasn’t aged a bit! Nobara straight-up says he doesn’t age at all. Honestly, while it’s a big reveal, the original Jujutsu Kaisen actually prepared us for this. Gege Akutami, the author, likes to reveal important details subtly, hiding them within a lot of dialogue. We saw this with how Sukuna became the big bad, and it turns out there were similar hints about Yuji being different and not aging like everyone else.
Throughout the series, hints suggest a major change in Yuji Itadori. A key moment occurs in Chapter 220 when Shoko Ieiri notices his body is saturated with cursed energy, implying he’s become a cursed object – something timeless and immune to aging. While Yuji wasn’t born this way, a series of events – from his birth and becoming Sukuna’s vessel to consuming Sukuna’s fingers – gradually transformed him beyond human limits. This explains his eventual status as the strongest sorcerer and his ability to avoid aging.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Events Shaped Yuji Into Cursed Immortality

The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen confirms long-held suspicions: Yuji’s mother was actually Kenjaku, a powerful sorcerer who has been manipulating events for centuries. Sukuna reveals that Kenjaku created Yuji with a specific goal in mind – to be a perfect vessel for him. This explains how Yuji was able to stay in control of his body even after absorbing Sukuna’s power through his fingers. Throughout the series, Yuji consumed over fifteen of Sukuna’s fingers, gradually becoming more and more like him. Adding to this, it’s been discovered that Yuji’s ancestry also connects him to Sukuna’s twin, further proving that Yuji was intentionally created to be extraordinarily powerful.
Yuji shares similarities with the Cursed Womb: Death Painting, because Kenjaku acted as his ‘mother,’ connecting him to the Death Painting brothers – a connection Choso immediately sensed. However, the crucial point is that Yuji’s body was saturated with cursed energy, placing him in a rare class of cursed objects. The hardships and losses he faced throughout the story further strengthened this, driving the development of his cursed energy.
The recent reveal in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo that Yuji has stopped aging might seem like a twist meant to thrill fans or revive a favorite character, but hints of his immortality were actually present in the original story. Instead of being a positive development, this confirmation is heartbreaking, because Yuji’s greatest wish was simply to live a full life and die peacefully surrounded by his friends and family. The fact that he’s been denied even this basic desire makes him one of the most tragic characters in Shonen Jump.
