The highly anticipated third season of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” slated for release following the conclusion of the second season in December 2023, will bring to life one of the most exhilarating storylines in contemporary Shonen – the Culling Game. This global phenomenon surpassed the popularity of its first season, boasting a fresh art style and action-packed fight sequences. The second season began with “Gojo’s Past Arc,” later rechristened as the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc.” This narrative thread delved into Gojo and Geto’s high school years, unveiling the life-altering tragedy that transpired between them. The answers to these mysteries are further elucidated in the prequel film, “Jujutsu Kaisen 0,” offering glimpses of their youthful years and the circumstances leading to their estrangement.
In the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, the narrative shifted towards the Shibuya Incident Arc, a significant turning point filled with heart-wrenching events that left long-lasting impacts on the characters as we move into Season 3. Japan’s situation deteriorated further following the Shibuya Incident, and Yuji and other sorcerers struggled to manage the ensuing turmoil. The upcoming season is set to explore the aftermath of this fight and delve into Yuta’s true intentions, who enters the main storyline at the conclusion of the arc. Although his actions may seem hostile, there’s a valid explanation behind them. Unfortunately, we might have to wait longer than expected for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, as recent updates from TOHO suggest an even more uncertain release date.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 May Not Be Released in 2026
Based on the financial report from TOHO, released on July 15th, 2025, “Jujutsu Kaisen” is noticeably absent from their Spring 2026 anime lineup. Instead of a specific release year or seasonal window, it’s only mentioned that production has been decided upon, implying that the series might not air next year, but there’s still a chance for a late 2026 premiere.
Over a year and a half has passed since the official confirmation of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, yet all we’ve seen so far is a key visual unveiled at Jump Festa 2025 back in December 2024. During Anime Expo 2025, where our team was present, we were fortunate enough to receive updates on the series’ progress, along with intriguing tidbits from the voice actors themselves – Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori) and Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu) – hinting at exciting developments as we eagerly await its upcoming release.
Fans are anticipating some significant news regarding the show, possibly a sneak peek or launch date, by the end of this year, but there’s no formal update on this matter from the production house. The second season came out in July 2023, which is over two years following the first season’s finale in March 2021. Given that it’s been more than a year and a half since we last heard anything official about Season 3, we might have to be patient for longer than expected.
In the upcoming third season, we’ll delve into Itadori’s Eradication and the Final Preparation storylines before moving on to the Culling Game. If you haven’t seen it yet, seasons one and two, along with the prequel movie, are available for streaming on Crunchyroll. For those who prefer reading, the manga volumes can be found for free on Manga Plus and Viz’s official apps. You can also purchase manga volumes up to Volume 26 on Viz’s official website. Volumes 27 to 30 have been published in Japan, but they will become available in English at a later time.
