I’ve been following *Jujutsu Kaisen*, and it looks like Jujutsu Tech will be back for a third season next year, but a lot has happened since we last saw Yuji Itadori. The events of the Shibuya Incident have really shaken things up – now everyone, both allies and enemies, is after him. Itadori himself has even changed his appearance while trying to stay hidden. We recently got a sneak peek at the characters who will be in the Culling Game Arc, and it shows just how much Yuji has changed now that he’s a wanted fugitive.
Yuji Itadori is facing execution not for his own actions, but because of the destruction caused by Sukuna, the curse he shares a body with. Sukuna’s release in Shibuya led to thousands of deaths, and while Yuji is devastated, Jujutsu Tech feels they must carry out the sentence. Recent promotional images show Yuji, Megumi, Yuta, and Choso as part of the marketing for the third season.
The Culling Game And Beyond
Although Yuta Okkotsu was the main character in the *Jujutsu Kaisen* movie, *Jujutsu Kaisen 0*, he hasn’t played a big role in the main story with Yuji Itadori – until now. The season two finale surprisingly brought Yuta back, and he’s been tasked with killing Yuji as part of the events in season three. However, even with Yuji and Yuta heading for a showdown, that’s not all that’s coming in the next season.
The next major storyline, called the Culling Game, was started by Suguru Geto, the primary antagonist behind the devastating Shibuya Incident. He intends to hold a tournament to test and eliminate weaker cursed energy users, and the sorcerers who survived Shibuya will be central to this new arc. Fortunately, the story continues beyond the anime, also through Gege Akutami’s original manga.
I’ve been following the new series, *Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo*, and it’s quite a turn! It’s a sequel to the original, but Gege Akutami has really shaken things up by introducing aliens into the world. It’s wild to think about alongside everything we knew about cursed energy! We’re still in the dark about what happened to Yuji Itadori – the story takes place decades after the first series ended – but there have been little clues about him already. Given how popular *Jujutsu Kaisen* is, I wouldn’t be shocked if *Modulo* gets an anime adaptation eventually.
