New chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen sequel come out weekly, and a recent one revealed that Yuji Itadori is still alive. It also offered a possible clue about what the most powerful sorcerers have been up to since the original story finished. Yuji has always been an unusual main character, particularly for a Shonen series. Unlike many Shonen heroes, he didn’t have a clear, overarching goal. However, this actually made him stand out with fans, especially considering he ultimately became the strongest sorcerer and defeated Sukuna.
He’s incredibly powerful and likable, so it’s exciting to discover what he’s been doing. Now that we know he survived and other sorcerers are looking for him – possibly to face new dangers together – it’s clear he remains the strongest. This also gives us clues about what he’s been up to, suggesting he’s been training in a way very similar to his teacher, Gojo Satoru.
As the Strongest, Yuji Itadori May Have Walked the Same Path as Gojo Satoru Would Have

I’ve always been fascinated by Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen. It was clear he wasn’t a fan of how the Jujutsu Sorcerer Association ran things – he even said he wanted to get rid of the people in charge! But he never actually did anything about it, because he understood that despite all its problems, the system at least kept some level of order. Honestly, Gojo was so powerful, he basically did his own thing anyway, acting more like a lone wolf than an official sorcerer. Now that both Sukuna and Gojo are gone, and Yuji is becoming the strongest, it feels like he’s taking a similar path – becoming that independent force for good, just like his mentor. And the little clues in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo definitely seem to support that idea!
The fact that the group is now looking for Yuji Itadori, rather than working with him, strongly suggests he’s no longer part of their organization. Given his age – he’d be over 80 years old now – if he were still with the Jujutsu Sorcerers, he’d probably be one of their leaders. This points to him having gone his own way and become independent. It’s also interesting that in the sequel, he’s always portrayed as a mysterious, wandering figure, someone who operates outside the established system as a kind of vigilante.
The fact that Yuji let an old curse user go free is another clue about his current status. The curse user himself said he’d never felt such fear before when facing Yuji, yet Yuji didn’t hand him over to the authorities. This suggests Yuji is acting outside the rules as a vigilante, because a regular Jujutsu Sorcerer would have been required to report the man. This behavior aligns with Yuji’s personality – he’s always been more independent, like Gojo. If this isn’t the case, the next season of Jujutsu Kaisen will likely reveal what Yuji has been doing since becoming incredibly powerful, and it will confirm he’s been operating independently.
