Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Already Has Its Next Best Couple After Yuta and Maki

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! Just a year after the original series ended, Gege Akutami is back with a new sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the story is set 68 years after the Culling Game and Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat. The sequel begins with the death of Yuta Okkotsu, who lost his desire to live following the passing of his wife, Maki Zenin. We previously met Yuta’s grandchildren in the epilogue of Volume 30. While it wasn’t explicitly stated who Yuta married, many fans believed it was Maki, given their strong connection since the prequel movie and the clear resemblance between her and their grandchildren.

I’m so excited about Modulo! It takes place years after the original story, and we get to follow a whole new generation of Jujutsu sorcerers. The coolest part is the world has really changed – it’s been shaped by characters like Gojo and the others. Plus, there’s this alien race called the Simurians, who have powers just like ours and ended up seeking refuge in Japan after a disaster back home. Everyone’s worried about a potential war, so the Jujutsu world is trying really hard to build peace with them. But it turns out the Simurian leader isn’t the threat everyone thinks he is!

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Completely Changes Fans’ Perspective on Dabura

The newest chapter focuses on Kyoko Tomoe, the school nutritionist at Jujutsu High, who is busy preparing meals for a conference between sorcerers and the Simurians. Among those attending is Dabura, the most powerful Simurian, who hopes to find a way to lift a curse affecting his sister. Shortly after talking with others, Dabura runs into Kyoko and Yuka. Despite trying to appear indifferent, Dabura is instantly drawn to Kyoko, and the feeling is mutual. While Kyoko openly shows her attraction, Dabura awkwardly tries to hide his.

This development gives Usami reason to believe that a peaceful relationship between sorcerers and Simurians might actually be possible. While the Simurians haven’t shown any hostility so far, people remain cautious. Romance isn’t a major focus in Jujutsu Kaisen, and when it does appear, it’s usually shown in a quiet, understated way through how the characters relate to each other.

Fans initially dismissed any romantic connection between Yuta and Maki, but the story later confirmed their relationship. The first encounter between Kyoko and Dabura is a new direction for the series, and could help relieve some of the current stress. The story, planned to last around six months, is now gaining momentum as details about Yuka’s illness and an upcoming conflict are revealed.
