Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Confirms Why Yuka Had to Be Sacrificed

Just a heads-up: this contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! I’m watching the sequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, race toward its ending, and the fight between Dabura and Mahoraga is really heating up. The duel is actually between Yuka Okkotsu and Dabura Karaba, but Yuka has a huge advantage – she can use the incredibly powerful Ten Shadows Style. She managed to summon Mahoraga almost immediately, and that forced Dabura into a desperate situation, an exorcism ritual with her. As soon as Mahoraga appeared, Yuka hid within its shadow, pushing Dabura to unleash everything he’s capable of.

No matter who wins the fight between Dabura and Mahoraga, Yuka is almost certain to die unless someone intervenes. She’s already very ill, confined to a wheelchair, and losing her vision. With only three months left to live, Yuka has accepted her fate and is willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of the jujutsu world. Surprisingly, the other sorcerers seem to have come to terms with her death and haven’t tried to save her.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Confirms The Sorcerers Planned Yuka’s Death

Peace between the Jujutsu world and the Simurians seemed possible until a sorcerer named Yakumaru killed Cross. The conflict could have been easily resolved, at least temporarily. However, Cross’s injuries worsened, ultimately leading to Yuka’s downfall. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes, the adults forced Yuka to fight Dabura, despite knowing she didn’t stand a chance, even before she was weakened.

Yuka bravely sacrificed herself, fully aware she wouldn’t live, and her brother, Tsurugi, was the only one who tried to save her. The most recent chapter revealed the sorcerers intended for Yuka to be the sole victim – a decision made to protect her, not them. As the battle goes on, they also have to defend Tokyo from dangerous cursed spirits that threaten to cause widespread destruction.

While the world of Jujutsu seems mostly the same as the original story, its sorcerers are still prepared to make difficult sacrifices when necessary. Though Yuka’s death will be sad, the sorcerers believe saving the city is a higher priority than saving her.
