Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga!
Approximately a year following the conclusion of “Jujutsu Kaisen”, author Gege Akutami introduced a sequel series named “Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo”. This spin-off is being graphically depicted by Yuji Iwasaki. The new chapters have been appearing in the same publication as the initial narrative, Weekly Shonen Jump. It’s anticipated that about three volumes will be released over a six-month period. Set in the year 2086, which is 68 years post the Culling Game, the world remains untranquil despite the demises of Sukuna and Kenjaku. The globe is plagued by curse spirits and users alike, with the abilities wielded by Jujutsu sorcerers exhibiting a remarkable resemblance to those of the Simurians, an extraterrestrial species.
50,000 extraterrestrial refugees, disguised as humans, have infiltrated Earth and discovered our powers. Among them is Maru, a Simurian, who is working undercover with the Jujutsu sorcerers as an inspector. On a mission regarding the vanishing of children, Maru encounters Yuka and Tsurugi, descendants of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin. As this initial manga chapter begins to lay the groundwork for the storyline, we catch our first glimpse into Ryomen Sukuna’s backstory.
The Aliens in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Have a Similar Appearance to Sukuna
In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the enigmatic figure known as Sukuna remains shrouded in mystery, with even his very name cloaked in intrigue. Born with an extraordinary physique featuring two heads, four eyes, and four arms, he bears markings across his body that defy human description. His powers are so immense they border on the divine, comparable to a deity or a force of nature.
Despite being inspired by a character in Japanese mythology, Sukuna’s unique appearance and abilities aren’t fully explained within the context of this story.
Observing Sukuna’s unique physique, I can’t help but wonder about the source of his distinctive markings, as it’s said that consuming his twin brother in the womb caused his body to be as it is now. Yet, this theory doesn’t provide a clear explanation for his tattoos. The upcoming sequel might delve into these mysteries since the aliens share similar markings with Sukuna. They also possess more than two eyes, adding another layer of resemblance. However, even if there seems to be some link between Sukuna and these extraterrestrial beings, it’s clear that he far outmatches them in terms of power. The invasion of 50,000 aliens was deemed a threat equal only to the formidable might of Sukuna.
The new installment is barely underway, and our only clue suggesting Sukuna’s connection to them is his unusual build and distinctive body marks. Yet, given that Modulo frequently references characters and narratives from the initial story, it seems possible we will uncover the reason for the resemblance between extraterrestrial beings and an ancient sorcerer.
