The continuation of Jujutsu Kaisen has been increasingly focused on action, but the newest chapter adds a surprising emotional element, hinting at a deeply affecting conflict before an already huge battle. The story now revolves around how sorcerers and humans are adjusting to the arrival of the Simurians, alien beings seeking shelter on Earth. Since the Simurians possess a leader as powerful, or even more powerful than, Sukuna, the series quickly established that cooperation was the only way forward for humanity. Naturally, the changes brought by the Simurians have created friction, and this tension is now building towards a full-scale war.
Recent events have focused on a growing conflict: sorcerers usually fight cursed spirits, but the Simurians worship them as sacred beings. This difference in beliefs led to violence, severely wounding Cross and sparking a full-scale war between the Simurians and humans. The main battle will be between Dabura and Yuka Okkotsu, and the winner will have their wish fulfilled. However, a separate, deeply personal conflict has also arisen, forcing Tsurugi and Maru – two characters with a very strong connection – to fight each other due to their own emotional struggles.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo’s Two Characters With the Deepest Bond Head Into an Emotional Battle

Chapter 14 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, “An Older Brother’s Duty,” focuses on the increasing conflict between sorcerers, particularly after Yuka is announced as Dabura’s opponent. The chapter also reveals the backstory of Maru and Cross, introducing “Mul”—a source for storing cursed energy. This energy allows them to use a technique for spatial travel. As Tsurugi and Maru discuss their roles as older brothers, the conversation escalates, culminating in Tsurugi challenging Maru to leave Earth and drawing his weapon.
Maru retaliates, drawing his sword, and his fury matches Tsurugi’s sorrow over Yuka’s impending death. This is unexpected, considering how close Maru and Tsurugi had become – their connection seemed like the strongest in the story, and it had hinted they might be able to end the conflict between the Simurians and humans, and even create a peaceful future.
The current conflict between the characters is quickly becoming more intense, promising exciting action for viewers. However, Tsurugi faces an uphill battle against Maru, who has consistently demonstrated superior fighting skills. Fueled by their dedication to their siblings, this fight will be emotionally charged and could significantly impact the future of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, possibly even foreshadowing how the story will end in the sequel.
