Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel May Have Just Set the Stage for the Series’ Biggest Rematch

The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is moving the story forward, and a recent development suggests a major rematch from the original series could be coming. As the story continues nearly 70 years after the events of the first Jujutsu Kaisen, fans anticipated connections to past characters. After learning what happened to Yuta and Maki, many wondered about the original hero, Yuji Itadori, and if he would reappear. Chapter 6 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo now suggests that Yuji lived on and continued working as a sorcerer.

Okay, so the fight with that old curse user was wild. After Maru showed him what he was made of, the old man started talking about a past battle with a sorcerer who looked exactly like Yuji! It really made me think that Yuji’s spirit lives on somehow. But get this – the newest chapter just dropped a bombshell: Mahito, Yuji’s biggest enemy and honestly, the most terrifying villain in the whole series, is also still around, and waiting for him! Since we still don’t know for sure if Yuji is really gone, it looks like we might finally get to see the epic showdown between these two that we’ve all been waiting for!

Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Brings Back the Series’ Main Hero and an Original Villain, Hinting at Their Rematch

In the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled “The Robbed,” Mahito briefly appears in what looks like a dream experienced by Tsurugi Okkotsu before he wakes up in the hospital. While unexpected, this isn’t entirely surprising, as Mahito is a cursed spirit created from negative human emotions and can potentially be reborn. This recent sighting heavily implies that Mahito has either returned or is about to.

The series has established Yuji as a powerful and famous sorcerer, but hasn’t shown him dying, suggesting he’ll likely return. This makes a rematch with Mahito seem probable, as Yuji promised to keep defeating him even if he was reincarnated as a curse. Yuji and Todo are a memorable duo in Jujutsu Kaisen and Shonen Jump, and it was after they defeated Mahito that Yuji made this vow to the villain as he was dying.

The current storyline naturally sets the stage for a rematch between Yuji and Mahito. Despite being over 80 years old, Yuji’s special body suggests he could still be a formidable fighter, with age only slightly diminishing his abilities. If Mahito were to return, it would create a compelling showdown. The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo series has been developing the story impressively, and as a spin-off, it could really appeal to fans of the original with references to past events. A Yuji versus Mahito rematch would be the most thrilling outcome the series could offer.
