The current arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is nearing its conclusion, and many fans are reminded of how quickly the original series ended. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen finished its run in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2024, catching readers off guard. When a five-chapter warning was given, fans were left wondering how the story would resolve its remaining plotlines.

The current arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is nearing its conclusion, and although it hasn’t been officially stated, it appears the story is wrapping up. This sequel seems to be following the same short timeline Akutami predicted, and many fans fear it will end abruptly, similar to the original series. This raises questions about whether the author struggles with writing satisfying endings.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Is Speeding Towards The End

When the author of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami, initially mentioned Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo would be brief – only a few published volumes – it suggested the story would wrap up around 30 chapters. That appears to be happening now, with the latest chapters focusing on Yuji Itadori and a new character, Maru, working to save the world by fundamentally altering Cursed Energy, potentially ending all conflict. However, the surprising thing is that the story hasn’t felt traditionally paced for such a concise narrative.

Set 80 years after the initial Jujutsu Kaisen story, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo presented a new cast of characters battling an alien race that also uses Cursed Energy. However, the series didn’t fully develop this ambitious new direction. Now, as it concludes, it’s attempting a major reboot of the world, which feels sudden and doesn’t offer satisfying conclusions to key battles and plot points.

Why This Is Like Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ending

This situation feels very similar to how Jujutsu Kaisen concluded. The ending seemed rushed, with important battles happening off-screen, and the final fight against Sukuna finishing quickly. It left viewers with a lot of unanswered questions, which is why a sequel seemed like a great idea. Unfortunately, the sequel hasn’t provided answers, and has instead created even more mysteries.

Many characters and plotlines from the beginning haven’t been revisited, and the story now seems to be rushing towards a conclusion. While the ending might connect thematically, it feels unfulfilling, especially since one conflict won’t be resolved at all. It’s reached a point where another sequel feels needed to properly finish things, which is disappointing.
