Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Teases a Shocking Yuji Secret Behind His Survival

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo began releasing in September 2025, and is revealing the heartbreaking history of Maru and Cross. Created by Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki, the series is planned to run for just six months. Even though it’s short, it will show us what the future holds for the world of Jujutsu sorcerers—the world they risked everything to save. The battle against Sukuna ended decades ago, but curses still pose a threat to the country.

The world is undoubtedly much safer now than it was when Yuji first absorbed Sukuna’s finger, an event that threw the jujutsu world into turmoil. While the story concluded with the defeat of the King of Curses, a new challenge has emerged: 50,000 Simurians have arrived in the country seeking refuge. This influx is causing widespread fear of a potential war, especially since there are few powerful sorcerers capable of defending against such a large-scale threat, with Yuji Itadori being a key exception.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Confirms Yuji Is Alive, But He Has to Pay a Steep Price

Chapter 7 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo suggested Yuji survived, as Mahito is still anticipating their meeting in the afterlife. After 68 years, most of Yuji’s friends and classmates have passed away. The story starts by confirming the deaths of Yuta and Maki, and while the fate of others is uncertain, they likely suffered the same fate. Despite being alive, Yuji’s situation doesn’t seem ideal. A quick look in Chapter 10 shows his face hidden, but he hasn’t aged a bit. Many fans believe the reason for his youthful appearance after so long might be connected to the Death Paintings he consumed.

Yuji was unique because he wasn’t born with any magical abilities and hadn’t trained as a sorcerer before swallowing Sukuna’s fingers. To become stronger, he had to find other ways to gain power, like absorbing cursed objects. His birth was also unusual – he was conceived while Kenjaku possessed Kaori Itadori. While he’s likely become much more powerful, he’s currently staying hidden, even though the Jujutsu world desperately needs his help.
