Please be aware that this article contains major spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga. The sequel series by Gege Akutami surprised readers with what happened to Yuji Itadori. The story is set 68 years after the Culling Game, and most of the original characters are either deceased or have retired after long careers as Jujutsu sorcerers. However, Yuji Itadori experienced the most tragic outcome following Ryomen Sukuna’s defeat. During the Culling Game, the villain takes control of Megumi’s body and quickly challenges Satoru Gojo. The manga then moves into its final storyline, where the sorcerers unite to defeat both Sukuna and Kenjaku.
When Sukuna possessed Megumi, Yuji lost his role as a vessel, but he retained the power within his body. However, this power wasn’t strong enough, so he absorbed the Death Paintings to gain more strength and learn Blood Manipulation. This came with a terrible cost: Yuji has stopped aging. Recent developments in Chapter 22 of the manga suggest a grim future awaits Yuji after the current conflict ends.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Reveals What Will Happen to Yuji After The Finale

It’s been absolutely heartbreaking following Yuji’s story! Imagine watching everyone you care about live their lives and pass away while you remain unchanged. After disappearing from the jujutsu world, he’s finally back, right in the middle of this huge battle between the Simurians and the sorcerers. But he’s not taking sides! Instead, he’s teamed up with Maru, and their goal is incredible – to completely stop cursed spirits from ever being born in Japan again. And just when you think things might be looking up, Chapter 22 drops this bombshell: he’s got another 300 years to live! Seriously, the poor guy just can’t catch a break.
Having absorbed the power of the Death Paintings, he’s now longer-lived, though not truly immortal. He intends to assist Maru in eliminating cursed spirits, but the situation is more complicated than it appears. These spirits originate from the negative emotions of people in Japan, and while removing cursed energy from everyone in the country might seem like a solution, it wouldn’t stop new spirits from appearing.
One possibility considered is giving every person in Japan magical abilities, but that’s unrealistic. Even though Yuji understands removing cursed energy from people could have serious consequences for the future, he’s determined to proceed because he believes it’s the right choice. He intends to protect Japan for as long as he lives and accept the consequences of his actions. The manga is nearing its conclusion and will soon show how Yuji and Maru intend to save the world despite all the challenges they’ve faced.
