Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel Finally Answers the Question We’ve Been Asking

The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, which started in September, has quickly become one of the most popular manga releases of the year, picking up right where the original story left off. Many fans weren’t satisfied with how the first series ended, and this sequel is helping to resolve lingering questions and provide closure. While it tells its own new story, it builds upon everything established in the original manga. For example, it confirmed the relationship between Yuta and Maki and introduced their grandchildren as the new main characters, answering old questions but also creating exciting new mysteries.

As a fan, I remember a lot of people speculating about what a child of Yuta and Maki would be like, considering how incredibly talented they both are and the idea that sorcerers get some of their power from their families. The main story hasn’t touched on that at all – Yuta and Maki’s parents aren’t around, and we haven’t seen any kids. But the manga has revealed they do have a son named Iori! I found this out through extra details included in Volume 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which is coming out on January 5, 2026.

You can now pre-order Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 1, but it’s only available in Japanese for now. Although the English version isn’t out yet, details from the bonus content in the first volume are already appearing online. The popular and reliable Jujutsu Kaisen news account @Go_Jover recently shared information from this extra material. Among other things, it confirms details about the Okkotsu family, starting with Yuta and Maki. We learn that their son, Iori, was born in 2031, and later married a woman named Mifuyu, though no other information about her is available.

Interestingly, Iori vanished shortly after Yuka was born. Although the reason isn’t confirmed, the author, Gege Akutami, often includes hidden meanings in small details, hinting that Iori’s disappearance might be explained later in the story. Given Yuka is currently in grave danger, it’s possible we’ll see Iori – who may never have met his daughter – before things get worse for her. As Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo nears its end, the sequel promises to resolve many unanswered questions, including the mystery surrounding Yuji’s appearance.
