Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! Just one year after the conclusion of the original Jujutsu Kaisen story, creator Gege Akutami launched a sequel manga called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, this series was planned as a short story lasting around six months, with a maximum of three volumes. The story follows the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, characters first introduced in the final volume of the main series. While investigating missing children, Yuka and Tsurugi meet Maru—also known as Marulu Val Vol Yelvori—a Simurian who works with sorcerers as an inspector.
The world of Jujutsu Kaisen is in crisis with the unexpected arrival of over 50,000 Simurians – aliens who possess the same powers as sorcerers. As sorcerers struggle with this new threat, a strange phenomenon has been growing more apparent in recent years. Chapter 17 of the manga focuses on Yuta and Maki’s son, who vanished shortly after his sister, Yuka, was born. The reason for his disappearance remains a mystery, but it may be connected to a change observed in the latest generation of sorcerers.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Might Be Preparing to Break The Cycle of Curses

Yuta’s son was concerned that the current generation of sorcerers wasn’t as powerful as previous ones. Yuta and those before him knew many incredibly strong sorcerers, but that doesn’t seem to be true in the current story arc. Plus, even as the series nears its end, we haven’t met a sorcerer ranked at the highest level. It’s likely that the Jujutsu world no longer has anyone as skilled as Yuta or Satoru Gojo, particularly considering Yuka’s difficult fight with Dabura while already seriously ill.
Yuta’s son had an encounter with Yuji Itadori before he went missing, and this meeting might be connected to his disappearance. These events could be tied to the weakening power within the world of Jujutsu. The story may ultimately resolve by finally ending the endless cycle of curses—something that should have happened earlier. The origin of this power, and why it’s concentrated in Japan, remains a mystery, but lasting peace is impossible as long as the cursed cycle continues, making it crucial to eliminate it completely.
