Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami ended in September of last year, with a final epilogue released in December 2024. This epilogue introduced Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren, though details about their family were limited. This year, in September, Akutami surprised fans with a sequel manga called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, the story is set 68 years after the Culling Game and focuses on Yuta’s now teenage grandchildren. Following the release of the final volume, many fans theorized that Yuta and Maki Zenin would become a couple, and the first chapter of Modulo confirmed this popular pairing.
The story of Modulo starts with the funeral of Yuta, who gave up on life after Maki’s death. Though Yuka was closer to Yuta, Tsurugi was raised by Maki due to their shared traits. The manga has been releasing new chapters weekly since it began, and the parents of Yuka and Tsurugi remain a mystery. While the main storyline doesn’t mention their parents, extra content in the first volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveals the sad story of their father.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Reveals Why Yuta and Maki’s Son Hasn’t Been Introduced Yet

The first book is scheduled to come out on January 5, 2026, and you can already pre-order it from Amazon Japan’s website. Details about bonus content were recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Go_Jover, a trusted source for Jujutsu Kaisen news. According to the information, Yuta and Maki had a son named Iori who disappeared after his sister, Yuka, was born. It’s currently unknown if Iori is still alive, but the book provides context for why Yuka and Tsurugi have never discussed their father.
The latest volume reveals the siblings’ mother’s name is Mifuyu, but her role in the story remains a mystery. Some fans believe the woman who initially prevented Yuka from using Yuta’s ring is their mother, though this hasn’t been confirmed. The English version is expected to be released sometime in the second half of 2026. This volume will be around 212 pages long, contain less than ten chapters, and include extra artwork and bonus content for readers.
The new manga series will be relatively short, lasting around six months and resulting in only three collected volumes. The story is now entering its climax, with the conflict between Yuka and Dabura beginning. Yuka is attempting a selfless sacrifice to protect the world of Jujutsu, but Tsurugi is determined to save her, even if it means battling his friend, Maru, who is fighting on the opposing side.
