Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sequel Subtly Confirms Another Major Death

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for both the Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! The story in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is reaching a turning point, as the conflict between the Simurians and sorcerers is escalating. While the sorcerers are still trying to prevent a full-scale war, the latest chapter, number 13, makes it clear that a major battle is coming. Modulo has been showing what happened to characters from the original series, revealing that most have died of old age, as the story takes place 68 years after the Culling Game. The manga opens with the confirmation that Yuta and Maki have already passed away before the main events begin.

The story reveals the difficult situation of Yuji Itadori, the original hero, who hasn’t aged in decades. He’s currently in hiding from the Jujutsu community, who believe he’s the only one capable of defeating a potential enemy, the Simurians. Recent events focus on sorcerers searching for Yuji and trying to reach Nobara Kugisaki for any information about his location. Nobara has survived all these years, but she hasn’t seen Yuji since the death of Hana Kurusu, a character from the Culling Game Arc, and he hasn’t contacted her since.

Who Is Hana Kurusu in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Hana Kurusu was used by Kenjaku as a host for the ancient sorcerer Angel, but she’s unique because she didn’t just become possessed. Instead, Hana and Angel learned to work together, fighting as a team during the Culling Game Arc. She appears during this arc and quickly allies herself with the other sorcerers. Being around the same age as Yuji and his friends, she easily fits in with the group.

I was so bummed Hana couldn’t directly participate in the Sukuna Raid! She was still recovering from those awful injuries she got when Megumi’s body was taken over. But even though she was sidelined, she wasn’t just standing by! She worked with the other sorcerers behind the scenes, and she was even generous enough to let Yuta learn and use Jacob’s Ladder – it really gave him a boost during the fight, which was amazing to see.

The manga’s continuation revealed that she passed away during the time skip, though the exact circumstances remain unknown. Following her death, Yuji, who wasn’t aging, found it increasingly painful to watch his friends grow old and eventually die. He also felt unable to grant his grandfather’s last request – a peaceful death – leading him to stop seeing his friends completely.
