Although many people criticized her recreated look, calling it insensitive, Julia defended her choice, explaining that it was intended as a tribute to the original icon.
Julia shared photos on Instagram on October 31st of herself dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the iconic pink suit. She explained it wasn’t a costume, but a tribute to a powerful moment in history. Julia noted that when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Jackie Kennedy famously refused to change her bloodstained clothes, wanting everyone to witness the consequences of the act.
The 35-year-old, who shares 4-year-old son Valentino with her ex-husband Peter Artemiev, described the First Lady’s action as a particularly striking and unsettling contrast.
Julia went on to say that there was a striking contrast – beauty and horror, grace and destruction. She believed the woman’s refusal to change her clothes, despite being asked to, was a remarkably courageous thing to do.
