Julie Bowen Reveals Her Son Oliver Phillips’ College Plans

Julie Bowen is celebrating this (modern) family milestone.

The former spouse of Modern Family actor Scott Phillips, who goes by Oliver Phillips, having just graduated from high school, has disclosed some details about his future plans.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob News, Julie revealed that the individual is enrolling in college. Specifically, he’ll be attending the University of Oregon, and he’s absolutely thrilled about it.

But he won’t be making the trek solo.

She playfully remarked, “He’s not aware that I plan to drive to Oregon.” Essentially, I told him, “I’m tagging along on your road trip.

In a candid moment, the 55-year-old woman, who has 16-year-old twins Gustav and John with her former partner, confessed that her children engage in conversation with her when they’re traveling together in a car. (For further insights on Julie and the cast of Happy Gilmore 2, don’t miss out on TopMob News tonight, July 16 at 11 p.m.)

Even though the actress from “Happy Gilmore 2” is excited about this fresh start, she playfully admitted that she’s “nervous he might be unleashed upon society.

She said, “I adore that child, I have such a strong affection for him,” and then she mused, “It’s intriguing to consider—nature or nurture. As a parent, you put in so much effort, only to find yourself saying, ‘You were destined to be this way. You are who you are.’

She admitted that ultimately, parents just have to let their “little bird” fly.

As for how Julie’s family celebrated Oliver’s graduation? They pulled out a cigar for him to puff.

To the most creative, engaging, and amusing youngster I’ve encountered… congratulations @itsoliverphillips, she wrote on her June 12 Instagram post featuring photos of him in his graduation regalia. “You have graduated from high school! The future is within your grasp (just remember that cigar might not agree with you).

Raising three adolescent sons has proven to be a testing experience for the former ‘Lost’ cast member, who, like numerous parents, grappled with the shift in their children’s behavior. Deciding the right level of involvement at this age was challenging, but her sister, Annie Luetkemeyer, provided valuable guidance during these trying times.

On the “Three Questions with Andy Richter” podcast in October, Julie said, “At their age, they only require your presence about 5% of the time, and for the rest 95%, they really don’t care if you’re there. However, when they need you, it could be unexpected or at an unpredictable location.

So, she emphasized, “You’re gonna miss that moment if you aren’t doing some lurking.’”
