Annually, Shueisha organizes one of the largest anime and manga conventions, Jump Festa, during which various Shonen series reveal updates about their upcoming projects. This event boasts a rich legacy, starting in 1999, and annually attracts over 100,000 attendees. Over two days, it features fresh announcements for anime, manga, and video games, as well as interactive displays and exclusive merchandise that can only be found at the convention. The event primarily showcases content related to Shueisha’s Shonen magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Square, V Jump, Saikyo Jump, and the online platform Shonen Jump+.
With many well-known series featured, excitement for this event is consistently high. The official website of Jump Festa unveiled the schedule for Jump Festa 2026, taking place on December 21st and 22nd, 2025. To everyone’s surprise, the Red, Blue, or Green Stages do not feature the debut manga of Takeru Hokazono, Kagurabachi, which is currently the most popular new-age Weekly Shonen Jump series. Additionally, the key visual neglects to include Chihiro Rokuhira, who is frequently highlighted in Shonen Jump promotions. The event will also showcase other series like Gokurakugai, Marriagetoxin, and Phantom Busters, all of which have yet to receive an anime adaption. This suggests that Shueisha may have different plans for Kagurabachi, but the details remain unknown.
Jump Festa 2026 Neglecting Kagurabachi May Mean Something Else

While Jump Festa 2026 doesn’t unveil any details about “Kagurabachi”, it doesn’t necessarily imply that the series is in bad shape. Given its immense popularity, it’s surprising that Shueisha wouldn’t acknowledge the series at all. Launched two years ago, “Kagurabachi” quickly gained momentum with its first chapter and has consistently been a hit since then, selling over 2.2 million copies by April 2025. Typically, most WSJ series receive an anime adaptation around two years after their debut, so it’s about time for “Kagurabachi” to make the announcement.
So far, 92 chapters of this popular series have been made public across Manga Plus and Shonen Jump’s official app. In Japan, eight volumes of the series have hit the shelves, with the ninth coming out on October 3rd, 2025. As for English readers, only five volumes have been translated and distributed thus far through Viz Media’s website in both physical and digital formats. The series continues to churn out new chapters every week, boasting ample content that could potentially lead to two separate seasons.
Kagurabachi’s Anime Rumors Have Been Circulating For Over a Year

Ever since the thrilling debut of Kagurabachi, I’ve been part of a fervent fanbase eagerly waiting for an anime adaptation! For over a year now, whispers and rumors about the series making its way to the small screen have circulated. In July 2024, Shueisha officially filed trademark applications for Kagurabachi across multiple categories, including animation. Given that these trademarks are essential for securing rights related to anime projects, this exciting development was seen as a hopeful sign by fans like me!

According to Toyo Keizai’s report, it is speculated that CygamesPictures, referred to as a joint production between Cyberagent and Shochiku, will be producing an anime adaptation by the end of 2025. However, this information has not been officially confirmed yet. Notably, Cyberagent is known for Summer 2025’s top horror series, “The Summer When Hikaru Died“. In the same month, Netflix Japan’s official X account hinted at potential anime adaptations of “Kagurabachi” and “Akane-banashi”. Moreover, Netflix Japan shared a trailer titled “With Friends, Jump Anime, and Netflix,” offering glimpses of previously adapted anime such as “One Piece, Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia,“, “Jujutsu Kaisen“, and “Blue Box“.
Furthermore, the title indicates a vast assortment of Jump anime on Netflix, offering fans both timeless classics and fresh hits. Interestingly, snippets from “Kagurabachi” and “Akane-banashi’s” manga were shown in the trailer, stirring speculation about Netflix potentially acquiring the rights to more Shonen Jump favorites, as was the case with “Sakamoto Days.” This unexpected reveal ignited discussions on these two popular series. As anticipated, “Akane-Banashi” confirmed its anime adaptation for August 2025, and it won’t be long before “Kagurabachi” follows suit.
