Saber Interactive just released a new trailer for their upcoming game, Jurassic Park: Survival. This trailer introduces Dr. Maya Joshi, the game’s main character, who will be brought to life by actress Payal Mistry. Mistry will provide both the voice and facial capture for Dr. Joshi, and the trailer gives a glimpse into how the character fits into the larger Jurassic Park story.
In the game, you play as Maya, a scientist personally chosen by Dr. Henry Wu to work at the dinosaur park. As Mistry explains in the trailer, Maya’s story is a powerful one. Players will experience frightening encounters with dinosaurs and difficult obstacles, while also learning about Maya’s emotional and mental journey throughout the game.
Later in the trailer, Mistry discussed what it was like to play Dr. Joshi, and how meaningful it was to portray a character with a similar life experience to her own.
Honestly, working on this game has been a really personal experience. I feel like I’m discovering a lot about myself as I go. The lead actress is a huge inspiration – she’s got so many qualities I admire. With a property like Jurassic Park, everyone loves it so much, you really feel the pressure to do the characters and the game itself justice. It’s amazing to think I’m building on the legacy of some truly iconic female characters from film – I’m standing on the shoulders of giants, it feels like!
The game Jurassic Park: Survival was first revealed in December 2023 with a trailer introducing Dr. Joshi, who appears to be stranded in the park. At the time, details about the gameplay were limited, but the trailer suggested a focus on survival and stealth, with players exploring the park and using parkour skills to get around.
John Melchior, an executive producer at Universal Products and Experiences, recently shared that the new game will take place in the world of Jurassic Park after the first movie’s events. Players will be able to explore famous locations like the Visitor’s Center and the T-Rex paddock, and also discover previously unseen areas of Isla Nublar.
Melchior explained that the team has been carefully considering the state of the island following the film’s events. This includes familiar locations like the Visitor’s Center and the T-Rex paddock, as well as areas guests wouldn’t have seen on the tour or that were damaged by the storm. They’re imagining what the overnight experience for those stranded on the island would have been like if things had gone as planned – where they would have stayed and what they would have seen. Melchior emphasized that the island itself is a crucial element of the story, just as important as the characters and dinosaurs.
The survival game Jurassic Park: Survival is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but you can find early gameplay footage from August if you’d like a sneak peek.
