Jurassic World Evolution 3 Review – Life Finds a Way

Frontier Developments has become the leading creator of construction and management simulation games, and their success has been driven in part by the Jurassic World Evolution series. Building on the popularity of games like Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster, the Jurassic World Evolution games have proven to be both fantastic tributes to the source material and outstanding examples of how engaging a well-designed management simulation can be. The first two games in the series were particularly well-received and helped establish Frontier’s reputation in the genre.

Four years after the release of the second Jurassic World Evolution game, Jurassic World Evolution 3 is here. It builds on the successful gameplay of previous titles with further improvements and additions. As expected, the result is a fun, engaging, and generally realistic game – and a must-play for fans of the series and the dinosaur park genre, even if it doesn’t radically change the core gameplay.

The most significant new feature in Jurassic World Evolution 3 is the ability to raise and care for baby dinosaurs.

If you’re familiar with the previous Jurassic World Evolution games, or similar park-building and management simulations, you’ll quickly understand Jurassic World Evolution 3. The game lets you create and run your own dinosaur theme park – you’ll design habitats, genetically engineer and care for dinosaurs, keep guests happy by building attractions and facilities, manage the park’s finances, and complete various contracts. It’s all about building, expanding, and maintaining a thriving dinosaur park.

This game takes the successful formula of titles like Zoo Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon and applies it to the Jurassic Park/World universe, just like the previous Jurassic World Evolution games. However, this installment includes a series of smaller enhancements that make it the smoothest and most fun version of the game yet.

One of the biggest new features in Jurassic World Evolution 3 is the addition of baby dinosaurs. You’ll now be able to raise dinosaurs from birth, watching them grow from tiny, miniature versions of themselves – everything from cute little Lokiceratops to smaller, younger versions of even the most dangerous creatures in the game. Of course, keeping them alive and thriving depends on you!

A key part of playing Jurassic World Evolution 3 is monitoring dinosaur populations and preventing the park from descending into chaos.

With the addition of dinosaur breeding, players now need to consider the gender of their dinosaurs. Dinosaurs can now reproduce, creating eggs in designated nesting areas. While you can still send out expeditions for fossils to create new dinosaurs through genetic modification, dinosaurs in your park will also breed on their own once they’re released into enclosures.

So, in Jurassic World Evolution 3, you don’t always have complete control over your dinosaurs. A huge part of the game is actually managing their population – making sure things don’t get out of hand, the park doesn’t get too crowded, and generally keeping everything from becoming a total disaster. It’s a really interesting addition that makes the game even more engaging and adds a whole new level to how everything works.

Beyond raising dinosaurs and enjoying their cute babies, Jurassic World Evolution 3 gives you much more detailed tools for building, editing, and customizing your park. This lets you control everything about your dinosaur park in ways the previous two Evolution games didn’t allow.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 really focuses on letting players create exactly what they envision. It offers extensive customization options – from detailed decorations and flexible dinosaur enclosure building that works with the environment, to easy-to-use tools for sharing creations. This emphasis on player freedom and control is precisely what makes this type of game so enjoyable.

The campaign in Evolution 3 features diverse maps set around the globe, ensuring a consistently fun and engaging experience for players.

The game offers several ways to play, with a variety of different modes. The main attraction is the campaign, which is a bit more relaxed than the one in Jurassic World Evolution 2. While the previous game focused heavily on responding to escalating disasters, this campaign emphasizes building and managing your park – though there are still some challenges, as you’d expect from a Jurassic Park game!

The campaign in Evolution 3 offers a consistently fun experience thanks to its diverse maps, clever objectives, and solid gameplay. While it’s not a story-driven game, the characters and voice acting are surprisingly good, adding a lot of personality to the missions. The standout, as you might expect, is Dr. Ian Malcolm, brilliantly voiced again by Jeff Goldblum. His signature cynicism and unique delivery consistently provide genuine humor throughout the game.

Besides the main story, the game has a challenge mode where you complete specific missions in various locations. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the campaign because I prefer to lose myself in building and perfecting my park, rather than focusing on objectives. If you want shorter, more focused gameplay with the park construction and management elements, challenge mode is worth trying – but the game is at its best when you’re free to create and manage your park your way.

If you enjoy the Evolution games or the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World Evolution 3 is a fantastic tribute to everything you love about them.

The game also features a sandbox mode, letting you create the ultimate theme park with customized rules – or no rules at all! This mode is where players usually get the most long-term enjoyment from games like this, and that holds true here as well.

While the main campaign is a lot of fun, the real appeal of Jurassic World Evolution 3 lies in its incredibly customizable sandbox mode. It’s endlessly replayable, especially if you’ve ever dreamed of building and running your own dinosaur theme park – and maybe even letting things get a little chaotic!

Jurassic World Evolution 3 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, and likely won’t win over players who weren’t fans of the first two games. However, if you enjoyed the previous Evolution titles or are a Jurassic Park enthusiast, this game is a fantastic tribute to the franchise and a worthy addition to the series – just like its predecessors. Frontier Developments has once again delivered a compelling experience.
