Jurassic World is quickly becoming popular on HBO Max, challenging other streaming hits. According to Flix Patrol, the 2015 film has climbed to the number 10 spot among the platform’s most-watched movies. It’s gaining momentum and could soon move even higher, as it’s very close in viewership to films like M3GAN 2.0 and is currently tied with The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
Colin Trevorrow directed Jurassic World, which was written with Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Derek Connolly. It was the fourth movie in the Jurassic Park series and launched a new trilogy. The film is set over two decades after the original and features the grand opening of a new park with hidden, troubling secrets.
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Vincent D’Onofrio lead the cast of Jurassic World. Pratt plays the lead role, while Howard is Claire Dearing, the park’s operations manager, and D’Onofrio plays Vic Hoskins, the head of security. The film also features Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson as Claire’s nephews, Gray and Zach, along with BD Wong as the geneticist Dr. Henry Wu, and Irrfan Khan as the park owner, Simon Masrani.
Jurassic World was a huge success at the movie theater, earning over $1.671 billion worldwide on a budget of about $215 million. Critics generally liked the film too, giving it a 72
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returned as their characters in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). Though critics weren’t overly impressed with either movie, both were huge financial successes, earning over $1 billion worldwide and easily overcoming any negative reviews.
What’s Next for the Jurassic Park Franchise?
The newest Jurassic Park movie introduced a fresh group of characters, starring Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid. While Jurassic World Rebirth didn’t reach $1 billion in earnings, it still made almost $870 million with a production cost of $225 million, making it a financially successful film.
Rumors started circulating in September 2025 that Gareth Edwards might direct the next Jurassic World movie. Reports also suggested Universal was considering bringing back stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey for the sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth.
I recently heard from Bailey that they’re planning to take a step back from acting for a while. They’ve been incredibly busy – three solid years of work, which they described as ‘amazing and mind-blowing’ – but with everything going on in the world, they’ve decided to prioritize giving back. Next year, they’ll be focusing their energy on the Shameless Fund, a fantastic LGBTQ+ charity, which is something I really admire.
Jurassic World is currently available for streaming on HBO Max and Netflix.
