Fans are getting a sneak peek at the upcoming second season of the popular Netflix comedy about basketball, which will be released shortly.
The Netflix series Running Point, starring Kate Hudson and Justin Theroux, debuted in February 2025. The show centers on Isla Gordon (Hudson) who unexpectedly becomes president of the LA Waves basketball team when her brother, Cam (Theroux), enters rehab. In season two, their relationship becomes strained as Cam secretly tries to get his old job back.
Netflix gave fans a first look at season 2 of ‘Running Point’ on Thursday, sharing twelve new photos and announcing it will premiere on April 23rd. The images feature the main cast, including Justin Huddleston, Jay Duplass, Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, and Uche Agada. You can see some of the photos from the new season below.

Netflix revealed a preview of the second season, hinting that Isla will struggle to juggle the demands of running the team with her personal life. Every choice she makes, both on and off the court, will be crucial. To succeed amidst family conflicts and the board’s oversight, she’ll need a completely new strategy if she hopes to finish the season strong.
David Stassen is the showrunner for ‘Running Point,’ and he’s joined by executive producers including Hudson, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis. The show has a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review for ScreenRant, Rachel Labonte gave ‘Running Point’ a 7/10, describing it as an enjoyable show with likable characters, family fun, and some basketball highlights.
What’s really impressive is how popular Running Point became on streaming, and it’s likely to be a hit again when the new season arrives. Kate Hudson, the show’s star, is receiving a lot of positive attention right now, which should help Running Point season 2 perform well when it premieres in April. She’s even been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in Song Sung Blue, marking a significant return to awards recognition.

I’m a big fan of Justin Theroux – I loved him in things like American Psycho and Mulholland Drive! I was so excited to see him back as Robert House in Fallout season 2. It’s been incredibly popular on Prime Video since it came out last December, and it’s awesome to see him doing so well with streaming. Plus, I’ve heard Running Point is coming back, so it looks like he’ll keep that momentum going!
Get ready to see what happens next in Isla’s funny and chaotic journey to manage her family’s company – and her actual family! Season one had audiences roaring with laughter, and Netflix promises more of the same. The Gordons will still be juggling the demands of their business, the media, and their own complicated relationships, with Paul Hudson and Paul Theroux leading the comedic charge.
All episodes of Running Point season 1 are available to stream on Netflix.
