Kacey Musgraves Shares How She, Miranda Lambert Overcame “Old Laundry”

Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert’s relationship has been a slow burn.

Kacey Musgraves discussed her relationship with Miranda Lambert, recalling when Miranda recorded Kacey’s 2011 song “Mama’s Broken Heart.” Kacey wrote the song before beginning her own career as a solo artist.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Kacey told NPR that this song was supposed to be her very first single, and she was totally obsessed with it! She’d been writing songs for other artists for years, but she finally had a bunch that felt so uniquely her that she didn’t even want to offer them to anyone else. She just wanted to keep them all to herself – it was a total turning point for her, you can just feel it!

The singer, known as “Space Cowboy,” was upset to learn the song had been presented to Miranda without her permission or even knowing about it.

She grew to love the song and was very eager to have it, but I also had to think about the other people who helped write it, she explained.

Ultimately, though, Kacey is happy with how it all turned out.

I realized I needed to start over,” the 37-year-old explained. “Looking back, I’m happy I did. It led me to write ‘Merry Go Round,’ which felt like a much better fit for my style and message as a starting point, compared to ‘Mama’s Broken Heart.’

Honestly, seeing how it all played out made me so happy for her. She actually went on to have a number one hit with that song! And you know what? It was a win for everyone. I was able to move on, and she achieved amazing success. It just felt like everything worked out the way it should.

Even though they hadn’t spoken in years and didn’t consider themselves friends, the Grammy-winning artist decided to collaborate with Miranda on a new song for her album, Middle of Nowhere. The duet, called “Horses and Divorces,” led them to put aside their differences.

Kacey, who finished her divorce from Ruston Kelly in 2020, had an idea after seeing someone on Instagram riding a horse. She thought, ‘We might not be friends, but we both love horses and have gone through a divorce.’ That sparked an idea for a funny song – maybe even a duet with that person, and she wondered if she could collaborate on writing it together.

She explained that she unexpectedly contacted the other person and said, ‘Look, we’ve had our issues in the past, but we both share at least two things. I’m not looking to be friends—you have your life, and I have mine. But I think we could write a really great song together, and I think Shane [McAnally] would be perfect to work with.’

After Miranda Lambert, who was married to Blake Shelton from 2011 to 2015, gave her approval, the two had a particularly meaningful moment, bringing things full circle.

Kacey explained that they dealt with some personal issues, had a good time, and finished writing the song in just a few hours.

She also shared that the experience felt like a small example of what she’d like to see more of in the world: people simply relaxing, joking around, and enjoying each other’s company.

TopMob News has reached out to a rep for Miranda for comment and has not yet heard back.

In January 2024, Bobby addressed speculation about a disagreement with Tan, two months after announcing he was leaving Queer Eye after eight seasons. (Bobby is pictured second from left.)

He assured Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay. He explained there was a personal issue between them, separate from the show, that had been building up for a while. He also clarified that it wasn’t a romantic matter.

In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.

We held a thorough casting process for the role. I didn’t recommend my friend for the part, but they ultimately earned it because they were the most talented. And just to be clear, I didn’t help them get the job by having anyone else removed from consideration,” he explained on Instagram.

During a September 2023 game of “Stir the Pot” with her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, on TopMob News, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she considered Topher Grace, of “That ’70s Show,” to be the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She described him as a consistently impolite and unpleasant person.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed upset when he was on The Talk in 2014, after she mispronounced his name.

She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this field?’ She responded sharply, telling him, ‘Don’t underestimate me, because I’ll completely overwhelm you.’ She finished by saying, ‘You have no idea who you’re talking to.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean. This followed a post Brittany made on Instagram on August 23rd, where she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, stating she enjoyed her current feminine lifestyle.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d ever met, explaining that Bure once declined to pose for a photo with her at a red carpet event. Soon after, Cameron Bure apologized, saying she unintentionally hurt Siwa’s feelings when she was younger and regretting not taking the picture. She expressed sincere remorse, saying, “JoJo, I’m so sorry!”

Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in holiday films, she said it wouldn’t, explaining that the network would continue to focus on traditional marriage.

JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to the entire LGBTQ+ community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art of her band, Hole, for a promotional photo without giving proper credit. Olivia responded with a message of support, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, thanking Olivia and offering to share the contact information for her favorite florist in London if Olivia messaged her.

I was chatting on Watch What Happens Live recently, and the conversation turned to a fun story from the set of Turner & Hooch. Someone asked me why I didn’t quite click with Tom Hanks during filming, and it brought back some memories! It’s always interesting looking back on those early experiences.

I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, called me into his office and told me to pack up and go home, saying I had everything I needed.

Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to hit it off. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said, “we got along great.”

He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”

Those who watched The Hills likely remember a famous line from Lauren during the third season’s premiere. The drama between her and Heidi started when Heidi began dating Spencer Pratt. It escalated when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor about her and her then-boyfriend, Jason Wahler, alleging she had made a sex tape.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post by Tyrese after the release date for Fast & Furious 9 was delayed to April 2020. On the same day, a Fast & Furious spin-off film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was announced, slated for release in 2019. Shortly after, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne Johnson was still involved.

Tyrese recently discussed the conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on the The Red Pill podcast that they still haven’t spoken directly. He mentioned he had talked to one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not to Johnson himself, and hopes to have a conversation with him in the future.

Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations on behalf of others connected to the film series. ‘I was the one who spoke up, and that was my mistake,’ he said. ‘It wasn’t professional or a good look.’

No more bad blood here.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a long-running public disagreement, rumored to be the inspiration behind Swift’s song “Bad Blood.” The conflict, which supposedly began due to a disagreement over a dancer and competition during their concert tours, was resolved when Perry sent Swift an actual olive branch as a peace offering before Swift’s Reputation Tour began.

Taylor shared a video on Instagram explaining that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, and said it meant a lot to her.

Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, successfully dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and subsequently made comments about her co-star that many found surprising.

I remember being asked about Kim Cattrall’s comments on Watch What Happens Live back in September 2017. Andy Cohen brought it up – she’d told Piers Morgan we weren’t actually friends, just colleagues – and it definitely took me by surprise in the moment. It was a tough question to address live on air, to say the least.

She was deeply upset, saying she was “just heartbroken.” They had talked about it all week, and she found it really disturbing because her memory of what happened was completely different.

It’s definitely sad, but I believe what truly connected us was the shared experience we all had. It started as a job, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. I hope that those years of working on something special and building connections with people will ultimately be more meaningful than any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of that.

And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award, criticized Madonna’s live performances. He famously told the audience that he disagreed with her being called the best live act, questioning how lip-syncing could be considered a live performance, and even jokingly suggested performers who lip-sync should face consequences, given the cost of concert tickets.

The actress, formerly known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to be removed from Emmy Award consideration. She explained that she didn’t think the storylines she was given were strong enough to deserve a nomination.

Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine’s choice in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was both hurtful and expected. “When someone consistently reveals their true nature, you should believe it,” Shonda explained. “I’ve really taken that to heart, and it’s been a valuable lesson for me.”

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week became a major news story. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what caused the argument with Nicki.

Cardi B recently told W magazine that someone has been repeatedly criticizing her. She explained that they had talked twice and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.

The conflict really escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had supposedly reacted to a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting, though Nicki claims she didn’t actually engage with it.

Cardi B explained she turned down a very profitable Bruno Mars tour because she wanted to be with her daughter. She emphasized how much she loves her daughter and considers herself a dedicated mother. She responded to criticism about where she encountered another artist, saying opportunities like that don’t come around often, and she wouldn’t have another chance to meet them casually.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when Kanye interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. They later reconciled and became friends, but their relationship fell apart in 2016 after Kanye released his song “Famous,” which included a reference to Taylor.

Just before the Grammy Awards in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for the action, and Swift didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”

The rumored rivalry between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez began in 2003 during a German television interview. When asked about Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey famously stated, “I don’t know her.”
