Fans of Kaguya-sama: Love is War are in for a treat! A new anime special is coming later this month, continuing the story after the events of the TV series and movie. Called Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, the special features an older Kaguya Shinomiya reflecting on her relationship with Miyuki Shirogane. A trailer has just been released, giving us a first glimpse of what to expect from this surprise return.
What to Know for Kaguya-sama: Love is War’s Anime Comeback
The new special, Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, will premiere in Japan on December 31st. As of now, there’s no news about when or where it will be available internationally. The special is being made by the same team behind the previous anime seasons, including director Mamoru Hatakeyama (A-1 Pictures), character designer Yuko Yahiro, and composer Kei Haneoka. The main voice actors are also returning, including Aoi Koga as Kaguya, Makoto Furukawa as Miyuki, Konomi Kohara as Chika, Ryota Suzuki as Yu, Miyu Tomita as Miko, Yumiri Hanamori as Ai, and Yutaka Aoyama as the narrator.
The new anime special, Kaguya-sama: Love is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, continues the story from Aka Akasaka’s manga, covering content not yet seen in the animated series. Aniplex previews the special, describing a scene where Kaguya is looking through old photos in her room. The photos bring back cherished memories of her time with Shirogane and friends at Shuchiin Academy, filling her with nostalgia.
What’s Special About Kaguya-sama: Love is War?
The anime Kaguya-sama: Love is War has been very popular, largely thanks to the engaging romance between Kaguya and Shirogane. They were both in love, but neither wanted to be the first to admit it, fearing it would give the other an advantage in the relationship. After seasons of playful competition and a challenging movie, they’ve finally started dating.
The anime Kaguya-sama: Love is War hasn’t adapted all the content from the original manga, so fans are hoping for a fourth season. It’s been a while since the series was actively produced, but this new special might signal a return to more episodes.
