Aka Akasaka’s popular manga, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, which ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2015 to 2022, is widely considered a top romantic comedy. An anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures premiered in 2019, and three seasons and a movie have been released. The movie, Kaguya-sama: Love is War –The First Kiss That Never Ends, released in 2022, concludes with Kaguya and Miyuki finally admitting their feelings and sharing their first kiss. Despite fans eagerly awaiting news of a fourth season for three years, none has been announced. Instead, the studio recently announced a new anime project with a key visual, but it doesn’t appear to be a direct continuation of the story after the movie’s ending.
The trailer released on December 9th, 2025, revealed that the new special episode, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, won’t continue the story right after the last season ended. Instead, it shows an older Kaguya reflecting on her high school days. Because the anime still has over 120 chapters of the manga left to cover, and this special skips ahead, fans are worried about whether a fourth season will ever be made. Many fans, including @XC_Enel and @Schaffrillas, have expressed these concerns on social media, and their posts have received thousands of likes, showing that many others feel the same way.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Still Needs a Season 4

While Stairway to Adulthood finally shows Kaguya and Miyuki admitting their feelings for each other, the story surprisingly doesn’t explore much of what happens after that big moment. The most interesting parts are still to come – fans are eager to see how their friends and classmates at Shuchiin Academy react to the news! Even after their rooftop kiss, Kaguya and Miyuki still need to work through some personal issues before they can truly be together. Plus, the story promises to give more attention to other characters, like the developing relationship between Yu Ishigami and Miko Ino, which many viewers are hoping to see unfold.
The story will also explore the difficulties this couple experiences because their families come from very different backgrounds. Kaguya, unlike Shirogane, grew up in a rich but strict family that never let her make her own choices. They’ll have to overcome many hurdles even before graduating. The anime will continue the story after high school, but it’s currently unknown whether the key plot points from the original manga will be included.
A-1 Pictures is currently working on several big projects, including the incredibly popular anime, Solo Leveling. If you’re interested in continuing the story beyond the anime, the manga picks up at Chapter 161. You can find all seasons of the anime and the newest movie streaming on both Crunchyroll and Apple TV.
