This summer, we’re excited that Kaiju No. 8 will return for its second season! Fans are eagerly anticipating seeing Kafka Hibino and the Kaiju Defense Force battle enormous monsters once more. The show takes place in a world where kaiju attacks have become routine, with only the most powerful ones receiving special rankings, such as our hero, Kafka Hibino (Kaiju No. 8). However, there’s one legendary kaiju that fans might not see in the series for some time, given that the manga is nearing its conclusion. Yet, the anticipated confrontation that fans have longed for – Godzilla!
The manga “Kaiju No. 8” is a heartfelt tribute to the world of kaiju, heavily inspired by Godzilla. This work was initially published on Shueisha’s online platform, Shonen Jump+, starting in July 2020. However, the series will conclude with its next two chapters. Yet, there’s exciting news for anime enthusiasts as “Kaiju No. 8” Season 2, animated by Production I.G., is set to debut on Crunchyroll on July 19th. Before Kafka makes his comeback, he must confront one final ferocious kaiju.
Kafka and the King of the Monsters Go Head to Head in New Kaiju No. 8 Promo
In one corner, towering at approximately 7 feet, boasting abilities passed down from an anomalous giant monster mosquito and seemingly no other notable skills, we have Kafka Hibino. In the opposite corner, reaching around 400 meters in height, tipping the scales at roughly 100,000 tons, and with a history of devastating Tokyo on numerous occasions, it’s none other than the legendary Godzilla! It seems this match might not be balanced in favor of Kafka Hibino.
Prior to the debut of Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, Kafka finds himself facing off against Godzilla in a fresh promo. The artwork, crafted by Mahiro Maeda, the director of The Animatrix, depicts Kafka Hibino in his monstrous form, standing tall next to the colossal Godzilla. Although he appears resolute in the image, it’s clear that beneath the kaiju exterior, Kafka is filled with fear. Have a look at it below…
Kaiju No. 8 Returns Next Week!
Although it’s unlikely we’ll witness a battle between Kafka and Godzilla on the big screen, rest assured that the Third Defense Force is returning with another round of monstrous escapades starting from July 19th, as previously mentioned, exclusively on Crunchyroll for streaming.
We don’t know exactly how many episodes Season 2 will have, but fans are guessing it might be 12, similar to Season 1. Additionally, in Season 2, we’ll meet the Third Defense Force and also introduce Captain Gen Narumi of the First Defense Force, Japan’s most powerful anti-kaiju warrior.
