Kailyn Lowry Gives Son Elliott a Luxurious Gift for His 16th Birthday

Kailyn Lowrywants her son to explore the world, one mile at a time.

A former star of Teen Mom gave her oldest son, Elliott, a car for his 16th birthday. His reaction to the surprise gift was incredibly sweet.

In a TikTok video from February 2nd, Kailyn led her teenage son outside, telling him to “Open your eyes!” He gasped with excitement when he saw something and immediately hugged her. She then explained it was his birthday present: the keys to a car, which also contained more surprises inside.

As she promised, the 33-year-old showed Elliott the emergency supplies she’d packed in the car’s trunk.

She told him the kit included essentials for accidents and winter weather, like first aid and an ice scraper. It also came with a sunshade to keep the car cool during the summer.

I was completely buzzing after hearing everything! I gave Kailyn one last hug, then I had to see inside the car – it was amazing! She decided not to show it in the video, which I totally get, she was worried about safety, but still… I was so curious!

This isn’t the first time Kailyn Lowry, who is also a mom to Lincoln (12, with Javi Marroquin), Lux (8), and Creed (5, with Chris Lopez), as well as Rio (3) and twins Valley and Verse (2, with Elijah Scott), has celebrated an important milestone for one of her children. Last June, she had her son Elliott on her podcast, Barely Famous, where he bravely came out as gay and shared a heartfelt conversation about his life.

He explained that it was really important to him to be genuine. Growing up in the public eye, he felt it was difficult to show his true self with cameras constantly around. He described feeling like he had to put on a ‘TV face’ and that it made it harder to be comfortable and authentic.

Elliott understood he’d have to get used to being very open about his personal life, but he was determined to control how he discussed his sexuality and share it in his own way.

“Just let me share my own story,” the teenager said. “I’m tired of others twisting my words, making up details, and talking about me without my permission. My life isn’t here for others to exploit.”

As Elliott learns to speak up for himself, his parents will always support him. Kailyn recently shared that Elliott’s dad, Jo, was very proud of him after the show aired.

She later told Parade that he seemed pleased and understood why Elliott had made his decision.

Kailyn Lowry became a mom at 17 when she and her high school boyfriend, Jo Rivera, had their first son, Isaac Elliott Rivera, on January 18, 2010.

Despite divorcing a year after the wedding, Kailyn and her ex-husband, Jo, have established a good co-parenting relationship. Kailyn shared on X (formerly Twitter) after attending Jo and his wife, Vee Rivera’s, wedding in 2018, that she couldn’t ask for a better stepmother for their children.

She wrote on Instagram for her oldest son’s 13th birthday that they’ve practically grown up together, but he sometimes seems more mature than she is. She described him as a kind, talented, and funny young man – a devoted Olivia Rodrigo fan who also loves music and basketball – and praised his thoughtful nature.

She explained that what she admired most about him was his willingness to question traditional ways of thinking. His curiosity and open mind allowed him to develop his own unique perspectives and beliefs.

In June 2025, Elliott shared on his mother’s podcast, Barely Famous, that he prefers to be called by his middle name and also came out as gay. Kailyn praised him, saying he’s accepting of others exactly as they are, and wishes more people were like him.

Lincoln Marroquin became part of the family on November 16, 2013, about a year after his father, Javi Marroquin, married the star of Teen Mom 2.

Kailyn described the boy as a big sports fan on her 2022 Barely Famous podcast. He spends a lot of time playing basketball and football, and even had an NBA-themed 10th birthday party inspired by his favorite player, Allen Iverson.

It’s no surprise he helped name his youngest brother. Kailyn shared in a February 2024 TikTok that the name “Verse” came from Lincoln’s suggestion of “Iverson,” a nod to the basketball star, since he’s a big fan.

She lovingly described her brother Lincoln as dedicated, intelligent, and good-looking, adding that he’s simply the best brother anyone could ask for, in a 2022 birthday message.

Lux Russell Lowry enjoys a diverse range of interests, including football, wrestling, solving Rubik’s Cubes, and the music of Michael Jackson.

Kailyn’s first child, Lux, was born on August 5, 2017, with her ex-boyfriend, Chris Lopez. Although they continued a complicated relationship for a while, Kailyn told TopMob News in 2020 that they weren’t currently speaking. She expressed hope that they could improve their communication in the future, especially for the sake of their children, and wished for a positive outcome, whatever that might be. She maintains she has no ill feelings towards Chris.

Lux is a remarkably quick child! Kailyn shared that from the moment he was born, he’s been full of energy and keeps everyone active, especially as they celebrated his sixth birthday with a WWE-themed party. She expressed how much she loves her energetic little boy.

Before her son, Creed Romello Lowry-Lopez, was born on July 30, 2020, Kailyn revealed she’d been grappling with a difficult choice. She told TopMob News that she kept her pregnancy a secret because she wasn’t sure if she would keep the baby. She described that time as very challenging and emotionally heavy.

Despite a difficult relationship with Creed’s father, Chris, seeing his ultrasound picture immediately made up her mind.

Kailyn shared with TopMob that, like her other three children, she instantly fell in love with the new baby. They were all eager to hold him and shower him with affection.

On his third birthday, shared with his sister Lux, she listed all his nicknames – Creed, Romello, Mello, Romey, Rome, Biggie, and Bigs – and wrote that no words could truly express how much she loves her energetic little boy, saving the heartfelt expressions for private moments.

Kailyn chose to keep the news about her fifth son, Rio, private for a while after he was born in November 2022 because she wanted to share his story when and how she felt comfortable, as she told People magazine.

Despite a difficult start to life – he needed to spend time in the NICU due to breathing problems and fluid in his lungs – she says he’s been a wonderful baby.

Okay, seriously, can we talk about Elijah Scott? He’s just… amazing. My friend said it herself – he’s so different from anyone she’s ever been with. She said he’s a hard worker, like, really gets his hands dirty with concrete and stuff, but then he comes home and is just completely devoted to family. He’s super close with his own family, and he’s become such a great part of ours too. She honestly thinks they’re a perfect fit, and honestly, I totally see it! He just seems like the best dad and partner ever.

Kailyn says having Rio helped her embrace motherhood again and enjoy life. She explained that while she thought having four children was challenging, her fourth child was particularly spirited. She found having five children easier because her youngest is a very easygoing baby, and she joked that if all her children were like him, she’d happily have even more.

Cut to…

In late October 2023, Kailyn became a mother to twins, Verse and Valley, expanding her family with her partner Elijah. They are her second and third children.

Valley, named after the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania where Kailyn spent her childhood, needed a bit more time in the NICU than her brother because she was having trouble with feeding.

Kailyn shared on her January 2024 podcast, Barely Famous, that she’d never encountered a baby who didn’t wake for feedings or show any signs of being hungry. Her daughter would simply sleep through scheduled feeding times, never indicating she wanted to eat, and wouldn’t even take a bottle when offered.

Even though Kailyn is concerned about how the twins will reconnect after being apart for so long—she hopes to rebuild their close connection—she’s overjoyed that her family is together at last.

She expressed immense joy, saying she felt grateful, happy, and completely fulfilled. This good fortune has allowed them to expand their home, and she feels incredibly blessed, especially by her healthy babies.
