The annual Glastonbury Festival consistently highlights the eccentric and extraordinary side of individuals, and Ricky Wilson certainly fits that mold.
47-year-old Ricky Wilson, lead singer of Kaiser Chiefs, shared an emotional experience at Worthy Farm during their visit in 2023: He held hands with actor Andrew Garfield, 41, in a heartfelt festival incident.
Prior to taking the stage at the renowned Pyramid Stage this coming Saturday afternoon, Ricky reminisced exclusively to The Sun about the moment: ‘Standing amongst the audience, I watched Elton John perform, only to spot Andrew Garfield by my side.’
He went on to say: ‘As Your Song began, our hands accidentally touched. I turned to Andrew and asked, “Should we?” He agreed, and we simply held hands. If you inquire, he won’t dispute it.’
However, holding hands with Andrew wasn’t the only surreal experience Ricky had at Glasto.
He remembered: ‘I donned an Elvis Presley costume – the complete jumpsuit, every detail. Originally, I was scheduled to perform a few songs in Block9, but upon arrival, I decided not to go through with it.’
Rather than that, he along with his companion Leigh Francis, known as Keith Lemon, found themselves at a place called Glastonbury-on-Sea instead. There, they took on the role of bingo callers not once, but twice.
This year, we find Ricky returning with his partner, Grace, by his side. They have already booked a luxurious hotel room close to the venue, preparing for his upcoming show.

20 years after the Kaiser Chiefs initially took the stage at the Pyramid, Ricky is set to make his comeback, following the triumph of their groundbreaking album, Employment.
He admitted he didn’t quite grasp the significance of that 2005 appearance at the time.
Amidst a flurry of performances spanning Italy and the United States, Ricky found himself truly comprehending the magnitude of the situation when they appeared on stage at Glastonbury to an enthusiastic crowd that echoed his homeland’s cheers.
Regarding this year’s collection, Ricky disclosed that the band had considered playing Employment in its entirety as a way to mark its 20-year milestone, but instead opted for something more unconventional.
They wanted to ensure that all popular hits were included, and suggested there are even more impressive songs awaiting the audience.
Already, thousands of festival-goers are flocking to Worthy Farm as the Glastonbury Festival 2025 gets underway with much excitement.
This year’s event promises to be extraordinary as it features an impressive roster of stars, making it a strong contender for becoming one of the most memorable events in history.
On Friday night, The 1975 will headline the Pyramid Stage for the first time ever. On Saturday, it’s the turn of rock icon Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts to take the stage.
On Sunday evening, pop star Olivia Rodrigo will end the festival with a stunning performance, and music legend Rod Stewart is poised to kick off his first-ever Glastonbury appearance in the cherished Sunday Legends spot.
This weekend’s significant performances also feature Charli XCX and The Prodigy, taking center stage at the Other Stage on Saturday and Sunday consecutively.
