Kaley Cuoco Shares New Harley Quinn Season 6 Update & Addresses Potential Live-Action DCU Role

Kaley Cuoco’s animated series, Harley Quinn, has been popular on two different streaming platforms, but Cuoco, who also produces the show, doesn’t know if it will get a sixth season.

As a huge animation fan, I’m really excited about this new series! It’s the brainchild of Dean Lorey, Patrick Schumacher, and Justin Halpern, and it takes place in its own separate DC universe. The story follows Harley Quinn after she finally breaks up with the Joker and decides to forge her own path – and build her own empire – in Gotham. It’s got an awesome supporting cast too – Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, who she actually develops a romantic connection with, plus Ron Funches as King Shark, Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho, and Alan Tudyk as Clayface. But what’s really interesting is that Harley starts to question if she even wants to be a villain anymore, now that she’s not with the Joker.

It’s been almost a year since the last season aired, and Kaley Cuoco recently shared an update about Harley Quinn season 6. While speaking with ScreenRant about her new series Vanished, the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actress revealed that the show’s creative team hasn’t received official confirmation from DC Studios or Warner Bros. Animation for season 6. However, everyone involved is still optimistic about making it happen.

Kaley Cuoco believes the show has a dedicated and passionate fanbase who truly enjoy it. She often encourages people to watch, praising the writing as some of the best she’s ever encountered. She recalls being surprised and delighted by the show’s bold and edgy dialogue when she first received the script. Getting to six seasons is a major goal, and something everyone involved is eager to achieve.

Cuoco shared that she often gets asked by parents after performances if she thinks the show is appropriate for children. She always firmly responds, “Your kid shouldn’t be watching this!” and emphasizes that it’s intended for viewers over the age of 18.

Kaley Cuoco, reflecting on the new leadership at DC Studios with James Gunn and Peter Safran, shared that things haven’t changed much for Harley Quinn. She described them as “incredible people” who “seem amazing” in their new roles and emphasized that “they love the show” and are dedicated to continuing it.

Cuoco expressed optimism about the future, saying she believes things can improve. When asked if she’d be interested in joining James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe, perhaps reprising her role as Harley Quinn or playing a different character, she enthusiastically said she would “absolutely” accept the offer if given the chance. She’s also heard from people working on the franchise that DC Studios is a fantastic work environment.

Kaley Cuoco described the cast and crew as a wonderful group who clearly care about the actors and the show. She noted many people return to work on it repeatedly, suggesting a long-standing and positive relationship. It seems they value the work environment, which she believes is full of respect and a genuine love for the characters and maintaining the show’s classic feel. She expressed strong approval of this environment.

Harley Quinn has had a somewhat unusual journey for a DC series. It originally appeared on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming service before moving to HBO Max. Other shows from DC Universe – Titans, Doom Patrol, and the revived Young Justice – joined it there, while Stargirl found a home on The CW. However, Harley Quinn is the only one of these series still running. Season 5 makes it longer-lived than its counterparts, and it has even spawned a popular spinoff series, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!

Even though the Harley Quinn show exists in its own separate world, its self-aware and humorous style has led to connections with other DC properties several times. We’ve seen actors like Matt Ryan return as John Constantine and James Gunn play a version of himself within the show. This makes it plausible that Kaley Cuoco could reprise her role as Harley Quinn in a future DC Universe project, and an animated series like Creature Commandos seems like the most likely possibility.

Whether Harley Quinn will appear in the new DC Universe depends on James Gunn’s plans for the character. Gunn mentioned in August 2025 that details about Harley and Idris Elba’s Bloodsport would be shared later. Around the same time, Margot Robbie said she hadn’t had any serious discussions about continuing in the role, but she’s willing to consider it.

The fate of Harley Quinn’s sixth season largely depends on the upcoming agreement between Warner Bros. and Netflix. While several shows on HBO Max are facing uncertainty as the platform potentially merges with Netflix, and DC shows like Young Justice remain in limbo, Harley Quinn’s past success suggests Kaley Cuoco’s hopes for its continuation may eventually come true. James Gunn is currently focused on his new DC Universe and supporting Matt Reeves’ separate Batman universe, adding to the complex landscape for DC shows.
