Kanamia Trial (Hard) Guide in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance features challenging combat, and the Kanamia Trial on hard difficulty can be especially difficult if you’re not prepared. If you’re struggling with the Maximo the Warrior boss, this guide will help you understand his attacks and strategies to ensure you can defeat him and claim your rewards.

The Beginning of Battle

During the fight, always watch the timer next to the boss’s health bar. It shows you which attack is coming up next and when, giving you time to prepare. Paying attention to this timer is key to success.

At the beginning of the fight, you’ll have a short period to freely deal damage before Maximo the Warrior begins his first ability, called Soul Split. Soul Split marks players with a debuff, which you can see by checking your buff bar. When the timer on this debuff runs out, you’ll lose a soul.

During the battle, Maximo will use Soul Annihilation, a powerful attack that hits in a sweeping arc. When he does, a message will appear warning you to stay away from both your teammates and any souls that have fallen on the ground. You need to move in a way that the attack doesn’t hit them.

If you’re concerned about your team’s souls, have them move to the furthest corners of the arena. The attack won’t reach that far.

The Big Mechanic

The next part of the fight involves the boss using a powerful attack – you’ll know it’s coming when he lifts his axe and it glows blue. The souls that fell earlier will now appear as areas of effect on the ground.

These puddles pull players towards them, and touching one means instant death. You need to constantly move – run, dodge, or dash – in the opposite direction to avoid being pulled in. The mechanic itself isn’t difficult, but the immediate death penalty makes it challenging.

The Next Phase

Maximo will throw three spears into the arena that your team needs to destroy. Once they’re all destroyed, he’ll jump to the center and perform another sweeping attack. Watch out for the burnt areas left by his previous attack – they’re still dangerous to stand on.

For your second attack, try to position yourself right next to where you did the first. This gives you more space to move around the map. If you split your attacks – hitting one side then quickly moving to the other – it will be harder to get around and avoid the burned areas.

The Cycle

Here’s the good news: Maximo the Warrior will follow the same pattern throughout the fight. It’s a repeating cycle, and you can beat each part by using the same strategies. Once you understand how it works, the fight isn’t very difficult.

With Maximo defeated, the Kanamia Trial is complete, and the rewards are yours to enjoy.
