I’m so excited! Kate Hudson and Justin Theroux are coming back for season two of Running Point! Remember that crazy cliffhanger? We’ve been waiting to find out what happens next, and it looks like it’s almost here!
Kate Hudson starred in the Netflix comedy series as Isla Gordon, the daughter of a wealthy and chaotic family who own a Los Angeles basketball team. When her brother decides to leave his position as team president, he unexpectedly chooses Isla to take over. This gives her a chance to prove herself, but she quickly realizes the job comes with a lot of challenges and family drama.
Justin Theroux recently shared an update about the second season of Running Point while discussing the Fallout finale with Tatiana Hullender from ScreenRant. Though he playfully kept specific details under wraps, saying “I have a secret,” the Emmy-winning actor confirmed they’ve received a possible release date for the new season. He also mentioned that season 2 is currently being developed and that more information will be announced soon.
Netflix’s Running Point, which premiered in February 2025, was a success with both audiences and critics. Reviewers praised its consistently funny style and the strong performance by the lead actor, giving it a 79% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show quickly became a hit on Netflix, topping the charts and leading to a renewal for a second season just one week after its release.
Justin Theroux will have a much larger role in season two of Running Point than he did in season one, becoming a main cast member. This follows the storyline, as his character, Cam, returned from rehab determined to regain control of the team after feeling overshadowed by his sister during his time as president.
Season 2 of Running Point features some changes to the cast, beyond just Paul Theroux’s increased role. Uche Agada, who played Dyson Gibbs, is now a series regular, and Ray Romano – a three-time Emmy winner – has joined the show in a newly created role. The cast is also growing with the addition of Ken Marino (The Residence), Tommy Dewey (Saturday Night), Blake Anderson (Workaholics), and several other new faces.
Okay, so with the recasting of Romano, things got a little tricky and they had to do some extra filming. Because of that, I’m not entirely sure when they actually finished shooting season 2 of Running Point, though I’ve heard November was the wrap date. It’s not a super effects-heavy show, thankfully, so post-production probably didn’t take forever – Justin Theroux hinted it might even be done already! He also mentioned they have a possible release date in mind, and given how close we are to March with no trailer yet, I’m guessing Netflix is shooting for an April or May premiere. We’ll see!
