Kate Middleton is soaking up the sun.
The Princess of Wales recently noticed her usually dark brown hair seems to be getting lighter, with some blonde shades appearing.
She explained to actress Su Pollard at the Royal Variety Performance in London on November 19th, according to the Daily Mail, that her hair used to be brown but had faded to a lighter color from the sun.
Kate’s hair looked a bit lighter than usual when she and Prince William – along with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – attended the glamorous event.
Kate, 43, looked stunning in an emerald velvet gown by Talbot Runhof, while William, also 43, wore a classic black velvet tuxedo. This was the royal couple’s first red carpet event together in two years; they missed last year’s event as Kate was recovering from cancer treatment and chemotherapy.
In September 2024, Kate spoke about how facing cancer is a difficult and frightening experience, not just for the person diagnosed, but for their loved ones too. She also explained that it can be a humbling experience, forcing you to confront your own weaknesses and ultimately changing how you see the world.
She explained that her main priority now is staying healthy and preventing the cancer from returning. Even though she’s completed chemotherapy, she emphasized that her recovery will take time and she’s taking things one day at a time.
Since sharing the news that her cancer is in remission in January, Kate has been experimenting with different hairstyles and colors while gradually returning to her public engagements.

In August, Kate debuted a lighter hair color while attending a church service near her family’s summer home in Scotland. She continued to sport the honey-toned shade in September, adding volume for a striking appearance during a visit to the Natural History Museum in London.
However, Kate hasn’t lost touch with who she is. She began returning to her natural, darker hair color last autumn.
