Katy Perry Dazzles During World Cup Opening Ceremony Performance

Katy Perry left the crowd roaring at the 2026 World Cup Opening Ceremony.

Katy Perry, known for her song “Roar,” performed at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12th before the U.S. men’s national soccer team played Paraguay. She shared the stage with Tyla, Future, Anitta, LISA, and Rema.

Katy delivered a dazzling performance, wearing a shimmering silver gown by Stella McCartney. She was joined on stage by 10-year-old singer Tius for a cheerful duet of her 2024 song, “Wonder.”

While they sang and danced, people circled around waving flags from different countries.

Katy finished the performance by lifting Tius, who was wearing a blue tracksuit, into her arms. Both were thrilled and smiled brightly.

Singer Katy Perry, who recently appeared with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the red carpet, announced she will perform at the ceremony on May 8th. The event already boasts a strong lineup of performers.

She announced on Instagram that she’ll be performing at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12th, excitedly saying she’s ‘kicking her feet!’ She encouraged fans to follow for more details, playfully warning them not to ‘let this be #TheOneThatGotAway.’

The World Cup isn’t just celebrating in Los Angeles – festivities are happening all over! In a historic first for the FIFA World Cup, opening ceremonies took place in three different cities, beginning with Mexico City on June 11th.

Before the Mexico versus South Africa match, fans at Azteca Stadium were entertained by a pre-game concert featuring popular artists like Maná and Los Ángeles Azules.

The opening ceremonies continued with a fantastic performance in Toronto. Canadian singer Michael Bublé shared the stage with Alessia Cara, Alanis Morissette, and other artists on June 12th, ahead of the men’s team’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

While many famous faces celebrated the start of the 2026 international soccer tournament, the entertainment won’t end with the opening ceremony – there will be more musical performances throughout the event.

BTS, Shakira, and Madonna are all scheduled to perform during the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19th.

This World Cup performance will be particularly significant for the singer of “Hips Don’t Lie,” as she first played the event two decades ago – an experience she credits with transforming her life.

Shakira described her strong connection to soccer, telling People magazine that it feels unbreakable. She explained that each World Cup feels special, and she believes this year’s tournament will be particularly important for uniting people during a challenging time socially and politically.
