Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos‘ kids have been cut off.
It seems Kelly and Mark decided not to include their children – Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 – in this year’s family Christmas card. The reason? They simply wanted to control who was featured in the picture.
Mark shared in a video with People on December 7th that they were done asking their kids to approve family photos each year. Kelly chimed in, saying they’ve stopped including the kids in the photo selection process.
The couple’s kids were not happy with the decision.
Kelly shared that her family members were upset about not being included on the Christmas card this year. They expressed feeling hurt and asked how she could leave them out. Kelly explained she was frustrated with having to constantly wait for their approval on a photo.
The holiday card this year is fantastic, according to the 55-year-old, and is sure to bring smiles.
She described a photo they took with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, explaining that Mark was positioned in the center, and everyone was wearing festive outfits. She added that Mark looked incredibly happy and excited – it was, she said, the happiest she’d ever seen him in a Christmas card photo.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen families navigate all sorts of traditions, and it seems Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recently had to make a tough call about their annual Christmas card. It wasn’t a dramatic situation, but ultimately they decided not to include their older children, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, this year. The reason? It really came down to a pretty straightforward issue.
Mark and Kelly shared in an interview with People on December 7th that they’ve stopped asking their kids to approve their photos each year. As Mark put it, they were getting tired of the process, and Kelly jokingly added that they’ve simply stopped including the kids in the photo selection.
And the couple’s kids were not happy with the decision.
Kelly explained that her family was upset they weren’t included in the Christmas card this year. They felt hurt and asked how she could leave them out. Kelly responded that she was frustrated with constantly needing their approval to choose a photo.
The 55-year-old maintains that this year’s holiday card is still excellent and successfully brings holiday joy.
She described a photo they took with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, saying Mark was beaming in the middle, surrounded by everyone in their festive outfits. She added that it captured him at his absolute happiest – a perfect Christmas card moment.
Indeed, this is not the first time the pair have cut their children out of their holiday card.
Mark explained that the last time they did this, their kids were also difficult, so they took a photo of his family on the set of Riverdale.
And Kelly confirmed his story, adding, “That was another good Christmas card.”

Besides leaving Michael, Lola, and Joaquin off their Christmas card, the couple is also considering a big change to what they’re giving their kids for presents.
Mark mentioned on the November 20th episode of Live With Kelly and Mark that his kids are grown up, so he doesn’t plan on getting them any gifts.
After Kelly expressed shock, he noted “They get money.”
He suggested giving them a check with a ‘Merry Christmas!’ message, then quickly added with a laugh, ‘That actually sounds terrible. Really terrible.’
The couple recently revealed another yearly Christmas tradition that their children still enjoy.
Kelly shared on the November 21st episode of Live With Kelly and Mark that she typically buys monogrammed pajamas for everyone to wear the night before a special occasion. She added that her husband only wears them once a year – just to make her happy.
She explained that she told him, “I really don’t ask for a lot, but you haven’t done anything to prepare for this holiday – no shopping, no baking, no setting things up. Just put on the pajamas I got you.”

In March 2022, Kelly took a short vacation to Detroit to see the Wolverines compete in the Division 1 Wrestling Championships.
Even though Joaquin was only a first-year student and didn’t compete in wrestling this time, Kelly admitted on a live broadcast after returning that watching the young athletes compete was incredibly stressful and aged her significantly.

After having to postpone their trip due to the pandemic in 2020, the family was finally able to visit Greece and Italy in June 2021.
Kelly explained that what started as a graduation trip for her oldest son and niece ended up being a celebration for the newest members of the family too, as it was delayed long enough for the babies to arrive.

In August 2020, Kelly Ripa posted a fun recreation of a family photo from 2003 on Instagram. She posed with her youngest son, Joaquin, on her lap, and her older children, Michael and Lola, in the same positions as the original. Kelly joked that things might look a little bigger now, but they perfectly recreated the photo!

Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Back in May 2020, Michael, Kelly and Mark’s oldest, finally graduated from NYU! It was a virtual ceremony because of everything going on with the pandemic, which was a bummer, but still! Kelly posted the sweetest message on Instagram – she said it felt impossible to describe how much joy and pride Michael brings their family, and that she loves him with her whole heart. Seriously, it was SO touching! I’ve been following them for years and it just made my day seeing how proud she is of him.

Kelly shared a nostalgic Instagram post showing how much her kids have grown, comparing photos from 2011 to 2019. She playfully noted, “The walls have gotten smaller!”

Kelly receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015 was an all-hands-on-deck event.

When your family is this beautiful, you would likely be posing for selfies more often than not too.
