Kelsey Grammer doesn’t know what to do with tossed salads, scrambled eggs and easy babies.
Just two months after Kelsey Grammer, known for his role on Frasier, announced the birth of his fourth child with wife Kayte Walsh, baby Christopher, he shared that the new arrival has been a wonderful surprise.
“It’s honestly incredible,” Kelsey shared with Will Marfuggi from TopMob News in a recent interview. “He’s a very easygoing child, and my wife, Kayte, has been fantastic. With our first two kids, we were still learning as we went, but we quickly got the hang of it.”
The 70-year-old, who is also a father to Faith (13), Gabriel (11), and James (8) with his wife Kayte, shared that they aren’t very worried about their youngest son.
He told me the baby is now sleeping soundly through the night. He’s currently looking after him and thinks he’s a really lovely child. The baby even smiled and ‘chatted’ with him this morning.
As he put it, “It’s great to have this new life in our life.”
Kelsey, who has four children from previous relationships – Spencer (42) with Doreen Alderman, Greer (33) with Barrie Buckner, and Mason (24) and Jude (21) with Camille Grammer – feels like he’s getting another chance at being a great dad.
Even now, with my kids all grown up, I still find myself thinking back, you know? I constantly wonder if I could have been a better dad, if I could have done things differently to make us even closer. It’s like, I replay everything in my head, wishing I’d done this a little better or that a little differently. But honestly, despite everything, I’ve had such an amazing life with my family, and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had with my kids. It really means the world to me.
The former Cheers star highlighted that Christopher serves as a powerful reminder of life’s fragility and has become a much better father.
He emphasized the importance of having some direction and focus, and taking responsibility. He admitted he hadn’t always been strong in those areas, especially when he was first starting out. He was still working through personal challenges and dealing with past trauma as he began his family, and that made it harder to prioritize those things.

Kelsey explained that having his daughter, Spencer, was a transformative experience, though he was still struggling to find his footing at the time.
I remember him telling me he felt so lost back then – unsure about his career path and really worried about providing for his family. He said it was a tough time, constantly trying to figure things out. Thankfully, he’s told me things are a little easier now, and he’s feeling more secure.
Indeed, Kelsey has improved his ability to play the “traditional” role of a father figure.
I’m definitely better suited to be someone who can take charge and lead the way,” he said, “and have people follow my lead.
Beyond his home life, Kelsey is showcasing his leadership skills in his new movie, Turbulence. He plays Harry, a hot air balloon pilot, and stars alongside Hera Hilmar, Jeremy Irvine, and Olga Kurylenko in this thrilling film, which is set almost entirely inside a hot air balloon.
The film uses a technique borrowed from theater, as Kelsey explained. By confining the setting, it creates a more intense and suspenseful experience for both the characters and the audience.

Kelsey Grammer and dance instructor Doreen Alderman married in 1982 and had a daughter, Spencer Grammer, on October 9, 1983.
Kelsey and Doreen separated shortly after their son, Spencer, was born, and though their divorce wasn’t finalized until 1990, Kelsey has acknowledged he wasn’t the most involved father early on.
In a May 2025 interview with People, Kelsey admitted he hadn’t given enough attention to some of his children, particularly his oldest two. He said he’s working to reconnect with them now, emphasizing that a parent can always be there for their kids.

Spencer was married to James Hesketh, a firefighter, from 2011 until 2017. They have a son together, Emmett, who was born in October 2011.
I’ve been a huge fan of Kari Wahlgren for years – she’s so talented! You might recognize her from Greek, or as the voice of Summer on Rick and Morty. But honestly, seeing her act alongside Kelsey Grammer in The 12 Days of Christmas Eve in 2022 was a real highlight for me. It was amazing to see her fulfill a lifelong dream, playing his daughter on screen!
This was Spencer’s first time acting in a Christmas movie, and it was especially meaningful because he got to do it with his father. He’d always hoped to work with him, and this movie finally made that dream a reality, he told TopMob News.
In July 2024, she was saddened by the passing of Dr. Bill Skinner, who had been a significant figure in her life since she was five years old, even after her parents divorced.
Spencer shared on Instagram that his father has always been a constant presence in his life, offering unwavering support. “He was always there for me, no matter what,” Spencer wrote, adding that his father consistently provided love, a listening ear, and belief in him, allowing Spencer to always feel like a cherished child.

Kandace Greer Grammer was born Feb. 15, 1992, to Kelsey and makeup artist Barrie Buckner.
The relationship didn’t last long. The Cheers actor married Leigh-Anne Csuhany in September, but he requested an annulment in 1993, ending the marriage.
Greer shared with Glamour in 2015 that she mostly had a normal childhood, but occasionally worried whether people befriended her for who she was, or because of her father’s fame.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE it! Greer, the absolute star I adore—she was on the new Frasier! And it’s just… heartbreakingly perfect. Her dad actually said he regretted not being there for her enough, and it’s like, she’s totally following in his footsteps, becoming a performer just like him. It’s like the universe is telling us something, you know? I’m obsessed!
In a 2014 interview with Nylon, actress Molly Tarlov recalled attending tapings of Frasier when she was about four years old. She knew she was at her dad’s job, but didn’t understand he was an actor on a TV show until she was in second grade.

In a 2021 interview with Stage Buddy, Greer shared the best advice her father, also an actor, ever gave her. He consistently reminded her to pursue acting because of her passion for it, telling her to “act for the right reasons.” He also had an honest conversation with her about the challenges women face in Hollywood, urging her not to let the negativity affect her. Greer admitted that even thinking about this conversation still brings tears to her eyes.

Kelsey married Camille Donatacci in 1997, and they had a daughter, Mason Grammer, on October 24, 2001, through a surrogate mother.
When Camille’s marriage ended in 2010, it became a major storyline on the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as she was one of the show’s original cast members.
Model and Emerson College graduate Mason shared in 2018 that her parents’ difficult divorce strained her relationship with Kelsey, but they’ve since worked through it and are close again.
She told Genlux that it was the most difficult period of her life, and it forced her to mature quickly. With her father largely absent and her mother struggling, she felt she had to take on a parental role for her younger brother. The situation created a lot of tension within the family, and her parents still aren’t speaking to each other, according to Page Six.
Camille, who has been married to David Meyer since 2018, recently had kind words for her ex, telling Page Six that he was a very good student. She joked that he likely inherited that trait from his father, as she doesn’t always possess that level of discipline herself.

Kelsey and Camille welcomed son Jude Grammer on Aug. 28, 2004, also via surrogate.
Kelsey’s youngest son, Jude, is more reserved than his older sisters. However, Camille revealed to Page Six in 2018 that he aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an actor.
I’m a huge fan, and she told me something so sweet! Apparently, he’s really shy about having his picture taken. He actually hides when he sees a camera! She says if she does manage to get a photo, she feels incredibly lucky – it’s just adorable!

Just two weeks after his divorce from Camille became official, Kelsey married flight attendant Kayte Walsh on February 25, 2011.
I was so happy to hear about Kelsey and Camille’s daughter, Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer, born on July 13, 2012. It was bittersweet, though, because they’d originally announced they were expecting twins, but sadly, their little boy didn’t survive shortly after birth. It’s just heartbreaking, but Faith is a beautiful blessing.
Five years later, Kelsey opened Faith American Brewery in upstate New York.
My daughter is named Faith, and that name reflects her spirit – you have to be strong and fight for what you believe in. We really had to work hard to bring her into our lives, and she’s incredibly special to us as our first child. It also reminds me that I’m still committed to defending the ideals of America.

As a parent myself, I always say the joy doesn’t stop at one! It was wonderful news when Kelsey Gabriel Elias Grammer arrived on July 22nd, 2014. His dad shared how excited he and Kayte were – they were just beginning their journey with a growing family of two kids, and it was clear how much love they had to give.
Becoming a dad again at 79 has been an amazing experience, and honestly, I can’t imagine life any other way! When our son, Gabriel, arrived five weeks ago, my wife, Kayte, and I immediately looked at each other and knew we wanted to do this all over again – another baby! It’s just been incredible, and we’re thrilled to be parents again.
Allen Kelsey Grammer, the actor, also mentioned that he and his family plan to continue a tradition of using their sons’ middle names as their primary names.
Kelsey described feeling incredibly fulfilled and joyful being around young people. She said it gave her a renewed sense of hope and that she’d never felt more vibrant or peaceful than when experiencing life alongside them, and she genuinely loves it.

Kayte and Kelsey’s family grew again on Nov. 14, 2016, with the birth of son Auden James Grammer.
And the Frasier star’s older kids were all for it.
Greer shared with Entertainment Tonight, a couple of months before her brother James was born, that her dad had always dreamed of having a large family. She said her parents, Kayte and her dad, are wonderful together and clearly adore their children, Faith and Gabe, who she describes as incredibly cute. She expressed her excitement for them to welcome another baby into the family.
In 2018, Mason told Closer that Kelsey has become a better father with each child. He shared that while Kelsey was strict when Mason was growing up, he’s now much more laid-back with Mason’s younger siblings, which Mason finds wonderful.

In an October 2025 appearance on the Pod Meets World podcast, Kelsey announced that he and Kayte had recently welcomed their fourth child, bringing their total number of children to eight.
The 70-year-old noted, “It was like three days ago, Christopher that’s just joined the family.”
