Kenan Thompson Went Full ‘Kermit’ On His Patrick Mahomes Impression (Until He Saw Travis Kelce Nail It)

Kenan Thompson is starting his 22nd season on Saturday Night Live, which returns to television on January 17, 2026. He’s known for playing many different characters and doing celebrity impressions. Recently, a clip of him perfectly imitating Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as Kermit the Frog on his show, Good Sports, with Kevin Hart, has become very popular online. Thompson says Travis Kelce deserves some credit for helping him nail the impression.

The comedian has done an impression of Patrick Mahomes on the show Good Sports, which is available to stream with a Prime Video subscription, but he’s not the only one. Travis Kelce recently impersonated Mahomes during a press conference as a playful jab after Mahomes jokingly claimed he didn’t know where Brazil was located. These kinds of moments inspired the comedian, as he shared on TODAY.

I realized how it should be done immediately after hearing Travis Kelce do it. I’d heard similar things before, but it didn’t click until then. I was trying to do it a certain way, focusing on a specific style, but he seemed much more natural and relaxed. It just showed me you can jump right in and do it.

It’s not surprising Thompson was influenced by Kelce – they’re teammates, so he hears Kelce’s voice all the time! Plus, Kelce has been practicing his impression for years, and it’s really good, making it easy to understand why Thompson was inspired.

It’s unclear if Kenan Thompson will ever perform his Travis Kelce impression on Saturday Night Live. It would be amazing – and really funny – to see him do it while Patrick Mahomes is there. The ultimate scenario would be all three of them together, with Thompson and Kelce doing the impression for Mahomes’ amusement.

Kenan Thompson could easily pull off an impression of Patrick Mahomes on Saturday Night Live if the show needed it.
